Hi I am new to this forum. I have been told to start taking Indapamide 2.5mg tablets but am also on Amlodipine 10mg daily. I am scared of the side effects I have read about though for Indapamide and that I have to take them probably forever. My BP has increased recently for some unknown reason whilst on Amlodipine and I have moved from 5mg to 10mg. I think part of it might be 'white coat symptoms' and don't want to go onto a medication potentially forever if it is that. Has anyone had a good experience with Indapamide and does it help with swollen ankles? Thank you.

Hi BeaSea1. The ankle swelling could be to do with the brand of Amlodipine you are taking - I had swelling of heels, ankles, feet and lower legs with one brand and a rash on the lower legs too and could barely get my shoes on and I'm on 5 mg. I changed brands and it all went. Regarding Indapamide, I only took them for five days and had to stop but there are people who have been on them for years and don't get any problems so don't worry about it yet as it may never happen. Good luck with it. xx
Hi BeaSea1. I would echo everything said by springcross. The generic brand makes all the difference since I have had problems with different brands, with amlodipine in particular.
With regard to indapamide, I took it for four weeks last year but also had to stop taking it. It really is trial and error - what suits one person may not suit another but it may work really well for you.
Thank you. I will give it a try and see what happens. I have not had a problem with Amlodipine but the Indapamide 2.5mg tablets would be in addition to the Amlodipine 10mg. x
I am on both tablets 5 mg of Amlodipine 2,5 of Indapamide , I too suffered swollen ankles from 10 mgs of Amlodipine , so the hospital reduced the dose. I also take Lorsartan , Just keep an eye on the Amlodipine. This combination seems to work for me in controlling my BP.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it.
