high bp amlodipine

i have been taking an amlodipine for 2 months now but have notices i am shattered, my muscles have gone , cant even get up to walk- is this a side effect or is it artheritus. desperate for help now

Hi. Sorry that you are experiencing these issues. I have taken amlodipine at 5mg for the last 9 months and, last year, was taking 10mg but have not had any problems with weak muscles. I have experienced side effects but nothing of this nature.

Obviously, we are not experts on this forum and can only comment on our own experiences. Have you mentioned this problem to your GP?

There are many sorts of medications to reduce your blood pressure, plus lifestyle changes you might make. Been taking 5mg for long time and no problems . Your physical condition points towards a steroid so best start with your GP

I had terrible muscle cramp with Amlodipine. Especially hips thighs and upper arms. My gp stopped it straightaway. I still get some muscle ache on Losartan but it’s much improved.

Are you on statins?These will deplete cholesterol which is essential for muscles and brain.This why statin users complain of muscle pain and memory loss.You must look into CoQ10 ...this will often correct this issue.I would also research into magnesium.
