thought I posted this earlier but it must have got lost in cyberspace, just wondering if people have experienced days of extremely high BP up to 181/101 and not going below 160/95 for the day checked every 4 hours did it first cause I woke with headache unusual for me ,today figures around 130/ 90 I am going through a stressful time but stress levels same today as yesterday so I dont understand the varied readings .
Is this normal ???
Cheers

Well the answer to your question as to whether this is normal is”maybe”!
Or even “it depends”!
When you take your blood pressures, have you sat down quietly in your chair for ten minutes? Before you start the machine, do you take three deep quiet breaths, breathing from your diaphragm? Whilst the machine is working, do you make sure you do NOT talk? Do you take the pressures at roughly the same time of day?
If the answer to the questions is always YES then these variations might be of some concern.
If it’s NO, then you might want to try to do these four things over a period of some days then see how you go.
I suffer from fluctuating BP levels. Have been on medication since August, after 30 years of very high BP readings, nudging 200 regularly. I will go days with levels within the 120/80 range and then have days of 180/90 or higher.
No changes with diet, stress, etc etc....
I think my poor body can’t cope with the lower levels and tries to rectify itself back to the higher levels.
Thanks, that sounds like me had a few days a few times like this before and went to dr got a 24 hr monitor and all was fine, not sure I was believed about the other days, today its reading 118/86
I’m trying not to overly worry, I’ve had years of very high BP and that didn’t kill me like they said it would, I usually can’t tolerate any drug. What annoys me more is the medical profession saying give it a few days it will settle, it never settles......at the minute it’s 99/45 but resting heart rate is 90!
Like your attitude,I hate any medical stuff,i guess I could have this fluctuating bp for years and none the wiser, settled today so trying to leave well alone, will check it twice a day for a few days and see how it goes
