Hi Hope everyone is good today. My GP has referred me to the hypertension clinic due to my problems tolerating all the BP meds I have tried. I have just heard the request has been refused and I am seeing GP today to discuss.
I really am at my wits end this has been going on for three years now.
Has anyone else had a refusal and how did you deal with it please ?
Thanks so much

we don’t have a hypertension clinic in this area so I can’t help as far as that’s concerned, and your doc’s appointment is today so not much time for research!
I’d normally say that you should get an appointment with the pharmacist employed by your doctors group of surgeries as they are the medication experts.
Thanks so much. I speak to the pharmacist regularly he agrees I need hypertension clinic. I hope the GP can help today I am hoping there is a misunderstanding and it will be resolved. Thanks again for your prompt response ☺️
Hi there just had appointment with GP was a bit of a misunderstanding in that the hypertension recommended two new meds to try (gp wasn't happy with those) and if they aren't suitable see the hospital pharmacologist. I have decided to re try Irbesartan as my statins have changed so worth another try. I live in hope ! Thanks again
I've been on tablets for years, and had to change a couple of times, but the GPs have always seemed to know what to give me instead. I'd expect them to refer you to a consultant if your meds weren't effective, is that what actually happened?
I know it's really hard not to get worried if things like this happen, but obviously worrying doesn't do our blood pressure any good!
Hi there and thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I suffer badly from side effects some medications exacerbate other conditions I have so it's been a long haul trying to find something but the GP said yesterday it will be resolved. Just taking such a long time. Still hoping ...All the best to you
