I have Daily frequent pain with my bladder which at times can be so severe I’m rocking back and forth and in tears. I often wake up with pain and after a bowel movement it can get to the point where I’m rocking back and forth in pain too.
I have had a cystoscopy and was told that everything looked normal and not suggestive of interstitial cystitis and they took some biopsies (waiting for results of those).
I guess the point of this post is to ask if anyone is in a similar situation? If I’m told all is normal I genuinely don’t know how I can carry on living like this.
Any help or advice welcomed. Thank you for reading x

Hi, I haven’t had the particular symptoms you are having but I wanted to send you lots of sympathy. I had bladder pain for two years but it has now improved just with time, not treatment But I remember thinking if this is permanent I can’t go on like this. Doctors don’t seem to realise how awful bladder pain is. I would go back to your doctor. Maybe they could refer you to a pain clinic for medications to cope with the pain. I’m not a doctor but with it being painful after a bowel movement could you have adhesions between your bowel and bladder. Have you had endometriosis. Have you had a gynae examination to check for prolapse of bladder? I do find that when anything else is going on in my abdomen that one thing affects the other eg when constipated this gives me more bladder pain or if bowel inflamed this also does. Maybe you could be referred to a gastroenterologist and have an abdominal scan or ultrasound. Also I don’t know how old you are but lack of hormones def has a bad effect on the bladder. I really hope you find some answers and things improve for you.
Hello
Sometimes after using the loo I get pain in my bowel area along with nausea which if it is intense enough can stop me from doing anything. I have had tests etc and nothing was found. It's been going on for a few years now. I think it might be a nerve problem but I'm not a doctor so I can't really say or it's just the way my ibs works.
I hope you get your problem sorted and resolve the pain issue.
I’m in a very similar situation myself and the pain can be excruciating & really unbearable, still fighting for answers and something that will ease the pain. The symptoms are debilitating that I have no quality of life and they really affect my ability to function. I’m sending you so much strength, I’m so sorry you’re going through this too - it’s really hard when tests come back normal and you’re left struggling with symptoms that are still unexplained but I really hope you are able to find some answers and get some support & advice here. I want you to know that your pain and symptoms are real and valid and there’s always an answer you just have to find it, there are a lot of things that can be done to improve your quality of life but they just have to work out exactly where things are going wrong otherwise it’s incredibly difficult to find a treatment that works effectively and consistently. It’s very much a case of trial and error because everyone is different but you will find something that works for you in time.
Are you having any other bowel or bladder symptoms at all that could be indicative of some kind of pelvic organ prolapse, overactive bladder, pelvic floor dysfunction, bladder & bowel dysfunction, IBS, constipation, inflammation because the bladder and bowel are situated so close together, if one or both are not functioning correctly it can cause a lot of discomfort and various problems. They can also rub against each other causing a lot of pain, irritation and discomfort especially when they’re not functioning as they should e.g. constipation etc.
