Last week, my mum started feeling sore "down there" She started getting up for a wee, a couple of times in the night.
She doesn't have burning when urinating, and is passing normal amounts of urine.
What she mainly feels is a pressure feeling in her groin...which is worse just after a wee. It seems to be worse first thing in the morning.
She took a urine sample to the docs. They did a diptest, which they said shows an infection.
Earlier this year, she was twice told a diptest showed signs of infection, but the lab results were clear.
She was on 2 lots of antibiotics, which gave her terrible side effects. So is terrified to take them again. Especially as we have a family funeral to attend this Friday. She wants this sorted by then.
Personally I don't think it's a uti. We read about vaginal atrophy, and wonder if it could be that?
She's also found she has a vitamin D deficiency.
Could that play a part in these symptoms? Seeing as they are both new to her
We don't know whether to wait for the lab results before taking the antibiotics...or take them and risk side effects for no reason!
Can anyone give advice? She really doesn't know what to do and is very worried she won't be able to attend the funeral on Friday.
Many thanks
Forgot to add that she's 66, and had a hysterectomy about 27 years ago
