Bladder filling quickly- help!

Hi everyone, I'm new here so apologies if this isn't the right place to post this. Since December I've been continually having days where I can't stop peeing. It's not just the feeling of needing to go as that is pretty much constant, but it's the bladder filling quickly and constantly over hours and hours. The days (or most often, nights) it's triggered, I'm up almost every hour with way too much pee than should fill in an hour. The original triggers seemed to be either tablets (multivitamins, etc.) which i've stopped taking, or things like fizzy drinks, which I've stopped drinking. However I had it two nights ago and I'd had nothing that would obviously be a trigger. Doctors have prescribed Tolterodine which seems to work on the feeling of full bladder but not on the bladder filling up.

I have endometriosis which is currently being investigated as the cause, however I've been told that whilst bladder pain and UTI type feelings can be symptoms of bladder endo (I don't know if I even have this yet), the increased urine volume most likely isn't and there's some other cause.

Other things about me, I'm 33, not pregnant, have a controlled underactive thyroid condition, not diabetic, slightly overweight but not massively. I've cut out caffeine, alcohol, and mostly just drink water now. I've upped my water intake to just over a litre a day (I'm working to build up to two litres).

This bladder condition has left me scared to eat or drink anything! It's made me scared to go to sleep in case I wake up and it starts and I don't sleep again! I have medical appointments coming up but they're mostly endometriosis related.

Any advice or suggestions on the cause will be very gratefully appreciated. Thank you x

Hi,

Just a quick suggestion. I would make an appointment with a Kidney specialist right away, I'm sure you will find some answers that way. Good luck. SG

Thank you and apologies for the late reply. I will talk to my GP about a possible referral 🤞

Thank you, I've had kidney function blood tests but interesting thyroid goes with kidneys. I was started on Liothyronine alongside Levothyroxine in November and the bladder issue started in December so I have wondered if there's a link so I've stopped the Lio. It's not helped so far but could be early days 🤞

google nocturnal polyuria. I have had a somewhat similar situation, but not as bad as yours. In my case edema was found in my lower legs. I was told this could be caused by heart, liver or kidney problems and to check each of these out. I did and they were fine. Then I was tested by sonogram for chronic venous insufficiency, but negative. Now the thought is that leg edema is caused by BP med Amodlopine, so have been changed to another.

The issue with me, and maybe with you is that if fluid collects anywhere in the body, when you lie down it tends to be released and you go to the bathroom. It is also important to check for adrenal and pituitary gland problems. I was told there can be "100 causes" for this and it is very difficult to resolve the problem. It can be very time consuming for the doctor and many are just not that interested in getting to the root cause. You have to keep pushing for answers. The tolteradine is just a band aid. I wish you luck. PM me if you want to. x
