Hi Jogs12

Sorry to hear of your recent diagnosis. Unfortunately as you are awaiting further tests, travel insurance companies tend to refuse to offer cover until a complete diagnosis and treatment plan has been put together by your GP/hospital.

Some companies are also reluctant to offer cover in the early months after a diagnosis, in that they like to be able to see that the insured person after being diagnosed is stable and not prone to any relapses.

Where & when are you thinking of going?

Hi,

I had already booked two weeks in Spain when I tried to get travel insurance. I have finally had a quote from AllClear. Its expensive but better than nothing. I am awaiting tests so that seems to make it worse.

I do understand the need for a holiday, but if you do have hf there may be implications for your travelling and how to manage it. And as Spirit has said, insurance companies hate undiagnosed disease...

Could you postpone your holiday?

Do check the small print for any exclusions they may have included.

Good luck

Hi I had a similar problem last year I had been diagnosed with heart failure and was awaiting further tests and I tried lots of companies who made it sound like I would be covered on line , but when I actually spoke to them I discovered that I wouldn’t be. Eventually I tried insure and escape they covered me without problem and where very reasonably priced.

Keep in mind that you are still covered by the EHIC card until the end of the year. Having said that have a look at the pinned posts on the right hand side , there is one on travel insurance. Usually you will find some company that will cover you for travel in Europe.

Hi, I’m not sure on your particular situation but Medisafe are worth a try.

I have the same problem with my husband except we live in Greece , my advice is if travelling to europe make sure you have the EHIC this will cover you for emergency treatment at least , have you tried an insurance broker sometimes they can help ....but once you have a diagnosis and a stable condition look into UK or world wide travel insurance companies that cover pre existing conditions

Hi I’ve been diagnosed with PSVT and awaiting further tests. Refused by a few companies as awaiting further tests. I found all clear we’re willing to insure me as I have a diagnosis and on treatment plan and awaiting a further test. Phoned them up.....make sure you tell them you have been diss gnoses and awaiting further tests is the key. Cost me £404 but worth it

Try Eurotunnel travel insurance.

eurotunnel.com/uk/insurance...

They’ve not only insured me for the travel but also my work as a tv sports cameraman as I used to drive over to Europe via Eurotunnel working and I’m also a type 1 diabetic, with a pacemaker. Be honest with them, as obviously you are; also make sure DVLA are aware too as the insurance peeps may ask are dvla aware of your heart issue.

Good luck.

Last End of May I had an A Fib episode. We had to cancel or trip to South America because our insurance company would not Reinsure me because my Consultant wanted me time have a CT angiogram. We had already paid the deposits, luckily they had to cover the losses. The CT Angiograms was totally clear 😳

My husband says I have to wait now for possibly up to a year before trying to get insurance.

Hi Jogs12,

If you do manage to get insurance and you have told them all the details, I would go through the terms and conditions with a fine tooth combe, especially the exclusions/not covered section. Hope all goes well for you and you get the holiday to relax a little.

They will only give me insurance for my recent diagnosis. But I have to have more tests. So will have to wait and see.
