Test results and holiday insurance

Hi all! Just wondering if anyone knew how to get test results. I had a CT scan on December 22nd and although I’m a believer in non news is good news, I would still like to find out the results. I’ve left two messages with the secretary and tried to ring half a dozen times but no reply? Then I know I’ll be labelled with ‘anxiety’ when in fact maybe it’s just the human nature side of me kicking in and telling me it’s normal to be worried or anxious 😬 any advice appreciated.

Also does anyone know about travel insurance, I’ve not even been properly diagnosed yet as investigations are ongoing but it’s extortionate. £1600 for annual cover on top of what I already have with RBS. 😱

Thank you 😊

Dear Nanaeli

So sorry to hear that you are having problems getting any answers to your problems.

Without your test results I cannot see how a travel insurance firm can give you a quote.

Have you tried to get your Dr to chase the results?

Please don’t even think of the travel without full cover as there are some really sad stories of the consequences of that.

As for your anxiety and worry , of course that is natural and I really hope that your results are good and you can go on that much needed holiday.

Please keep us informed

Take care

Without a firm diagnosis, it's impossible to calculate the risks, so insurance companies are reluctant to cover you for anything but basic illness or accidents if investigations are ongoing. Before I was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, I was offered policies which excluded anything that might be in any way be related to the symptoms I had, but still at an inflated price. In the end I decided against travelling until I knew exactly what was wrong, and if it was likely to give rise to a claim while I was abroad. I've been away since, with no problems, but still had to pay a high premium. Usually, it becomes cheaper 12 months after diagnosis, as long as you haven't been ill in the meantime. Make sure you are covered for things like private hospitals and repatriation. Some of the cheaper policies aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Hope you get something sorted out.

It depends on your condition to reduce travel insurance. Heart related conditions still incur the same charges or even increase at renewal whereas things like knee replacements, gall bladder surgery the weightings are removed after 12 months.

Hello I also got extortionate quotes alongside my RBS insurance. I eventually got insurance from AllClear travel insurance for a third of the price. Lasts a year and is worldwide cover. I would push for your results. I did!!Www.AllClearTravel.co.ukHope this helps. Good luck 🤞

It's still quite early to get results. I had an echo scan early December and a holter monitor over Christmas and no results yet. All you can do is ring the secretary. If there was anything really urgent I'm sure you would have heard.

So I received this letter this morning 😊 definitely cheered me up. However, I have no idea what atrial chambers mildly dilated is?? Has this caused AF or is AF causing this?? I’ve still not been definitively diagnosed with it yet 🤷‍♀️ My next appt is not until July which whilst I know is a good sign, I still feel I have a right to know exactly what it means rather than being left to Google. I am relieved though no doubt about that.

Still no further in with travel insurance either! Worvera I will check that company out today thank you very much.

Best wishes to everyone 🤩

Whoops I Was so excited about the good news I forgot to add the letter. Could anyone shed any light on the atrial chambers mildly dilated. Maybe someone has this and knows more about it, I’m not expecting professional medical answers. Thank you all 👌

Of course you are bound to be anxious I personally think 4 weeks is long enough to wait. Have you tried phoning your GP, it is a bit of a long shot but they may be in possession of the results. As everyone else has said, no insurance company I know will cover you when you are still having exploratory work being done and/or you need ongoing treatment.

I would put off any travel until you have either been discharged or been told by the Dr you can travel.

I had booked a trip to Australia/NZ in 2016 to go in 2017 but had to make an insurance claim when my cardiologist told me until I had my angiogram he would not clear me for travel. It turned out I couldn't go anyway due to needing a bypass.

I know the frustration regarding travel as we have had to stay put due to C19 but you need to be fit and able to travel when the time is right, it will be worth waiting!!

Not what you're looking for?
