CRT-d question

Hello everyone. Just wondered if anyone with a crt-d has any idea how long the batteries should last and has anyone had a battery change/replacement device. Been for my annual check today and forgot to ask because they were quite busy. Thanks in advance. 😊

Hi, yes I had mine fitted August 2023 and have check ups with device clinic. It really depends how much it is needed. I was told last time that the batteries were running to full capacity for my condition and needs. So the batteries won’t last as long in my case. They tried adjusting it but couldn’t. They’ve estimated between 5 to 6 years then the batteries will have to be changed. Spoke to cardiologist about it and he said ‘don’t worry it’s doing its job and you feel much better’. Just means I will have to have the batteries changed sooner. Ask them next time you go and they will be able to tell you as everyone is different depending on how much your pumping needs it. Sorry I couldn’t help you more than that. X

Hi. Mine is a defib and hopefully will never kick in, but it is there if needed. As it is mainly monitoring they expect about 8 years battery power.

Thanks for your reply. Average seems to be about 5 to 10 years depending on use. 10 would be better 😁👍

Hi

Went for my annual check last week and was told approx 2 years 7 months left, and it was fitted on 25/10/19 so looks like mine should last 7 years 10 months. Mine is also set to pacing at 80 BPM as well as syncing. Luckily I have not needed the defib facility

Take care and enjoy life

I had a CRT-D inplant put in 2015 and my Dr. said they average 10 years, and had my 1st battery change this past November. Very easy surgery with minimal pain.

Thank you 😊 that’s very reassuring. Don’t know why I suddenly started wondering. Probably because it was check up time 😁

Hi, my CRT-D was implanted in 2020 and the Cardiologist said the batteries last approximately 10 years. Earlier this month I had an annual consultation with the Cardiologist who said there are about 4 years left on the batteries based on the home base unit sending down loads to the hospital. So it looks like 9 years for the batteries. I asked what happens when the batteries are running out and the Cardiologist said they'll change the complete unit not the batteries.

Do you have a home base unit that downloads data from your your CRT-D and transmits it to the hospital?

Hope this helps.

I have a transmitter at side of my bed. So just have to press a button once every 3 months and it sends the info from my pacemaker to hospital with no problems so far 😊😊

I was told 5 to 7 years when getting my pacemaker checked at Stafford. 😊😊
