CRT-d query

Hello. I’ve recently had a crt-d input and have been really aware of my heartbeat/palpitations since having it done. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar experience? Hard to get used to it all.

I'm not sure if what you are experiencing is the same but when my CRT-D was fitted I was experiencing pulsing - a bit like someone flicking my chest with their finger for every heart beat- at certain times (not all the time). This turned out to be the right ventricle lead which was inadvertently stimulating local muscles / tissue. Although it wasn't painful it was very distracting and troubling. This is because when its happening its a constant reminder of your heart problems and the presence of the device. I was able to attend a device trouble shooting clinic in hospital where they made adjustments to the device programming that vastly improved this problem and now most of the time I can forget its there. If you are still having problems in a few weeks I would request a device troubleshooting appointment and see if they can help. When its working properly you should be able to completely forget its there most of the time and that is what they are aiming for.

Thank you very much for the advice. You’re right, when it happens it does make you think of the heart problems and causes me anxiety. I’m due my check up at the beginning of October but if it persists I may request a trouble shooting appointment sooner. 🙂
