Hi all, just an update on my previous post . I have had my CRT-D in 2 weeks today. Last Thurs my alarm went off. Today I went to the pacing clinic so they could look into the reason for the alarm going off and I was told 2 leads have displaced, it is looking like I am going to have to go back in so they can try and replace the leads. My original op was horrendous and nearly 4 hours long due to complications I am absolutely dreading going back in and my anxiety is now through the roof. Has anyone else had this done and is it as bad as the original implant? Thanks for reading.

CRT-D leads loose
Hello
I am really sorry to read 2 of your leads have come loose and you may have to go through a operation again to correct this
I personally have not been through this but I am sure I have read others that have had similar issues and everything turned out alright and I hope if they see your post they will reply and reassure you as I know you must be feeling really anxious especially after your first op was not as smooth as it could have been but remember this time it could be totally opposite and a better experience so try and stay positive I know it is difficult and let us know how you get on x
Thank you for you reply. I am trying to think positive but my anxiety is definitely taking over at the moment.
Fingers crossed it won't be anything like last time x
Hello
I suffer with anxiety so I know how hard it is and the effort you have to out in because anxiety soon does take over but try and stay as focused as you can on the positives one is they can do something as well as usually never two things are the same so this time keep telling yourself it will be better and you can always come and talk with us x
Hi
I am so sorry to hear this I had mine fitted same time as you and I’ve been worrying about this happening. We will all be thinking about you and hopefully all will be well and they will put it right. Hopefully someone else will have been through this and can put your mind at rest. X
Hi Jaskie I am going into kings college to have a wire repositioned and I am dreading it Were you awake when they did the procedure and what complications did encounter I have only had my pacemaker since April x
This is my first implant, I had it done on 15th August. They struggled getting the third wire in place and the operation took nearly double the time. I was awake during the whole procedure (around 4 hours) I had some sedation which really did nothing for me so I really am not looking forward to going back in. I hope everything goes well with your repositioning, let me know how you get on x
Hello there. I’m so sorry you are going through this. It’s a big worry for any of us who have had a device fitted. If it’s any help, when I had mine done they struggled to get the third lead in and I was in hospital for a week afterwards. I then had to go back a few months later to have another try a getting the third lead in. I was really upset and anxious about it all but it went ok the second time. I’m sure things will be fine for you this time too, and remember that the cardiologist knows what you went through the first time and will watching you very carefully. Let us know how you do ❤️
I'm so glad it went OK the second time for you and I am certainly hoping it does for me too. I never thought about it that way, the cardiologist did apologise after the operation, I know they have to do what they have to do, but yes ye will be aware this time what I went through which is a reassuring thought! Thank you x
Hi, My pacemaker leads became detached at the heart end after a few months. I thought it would a simple case of reconnecting, but, apparently they have to remove the lead and insert a new one. Basically, the same op, but for me, it took a bit longer than the original PM insertion. I've had it almost 10years now without any issues.
I can understand your concerns, but, I'd be surprised if the same complications arise again, so it shouldn't take anywhere near 4 hours again.
Best wishes
Hi thanks for your reply.Yes I think I need to just try and think positive, I am sure it will all be worth it in the end. It certainly makes it worth it when I hear you have had yours in for 10 years now, that's brilliant!
Best wishes to you.
I had to go for a second head scan. This one was an MRI and my head was strapped in for fifteen minutes.
And I'm a supreme anxiety sufferer and I could hear my heart racing. I also have a pacemaker and it was saying calm the hell down or I'm going to shock you so much people will think you've had a perm.
I just calmed my breathing and drifted off to another place. My brain was like omg this fifteen minutes is going on for ever.
I started hearing another voice and this one said will you shut the hell up or I swear to god.
Everything went well but I tell you this, I could have easily smoked a joint after with the day I had.
We worry so much and that's half the problem. When we look back there was no need too.
I'm so sorry for what you're going through and I hope you're alright.
Hi, thank you for your reply.I am sorry for what you went through but you certainly made me smile with your story and you have definitely given me something to think about 😊
We all need to laugh, well I just noticed your reply. Dam I hate technology sometimes.
Hope you're doing well adn feeling well?
Technology is wonderful when it works haha. Since I posted this I got an infection and had to have my CRT-D removed. I was on iv antibiotics for 3 weeks and had a replacement put in on the right hand side, which didn't go as planned as they could only get 2 of the 3 leads in, so I now have an ICD. I finally went home last Friday but came back in on Sat with an infection in the new one, so I'm not doing so great at the moment and extremely fed up to say the least! Hope you are doing well?
