Thankfully I have a cardiac nurse appointment next week. I am fed up of being a zombie. I am on 10mg now double what I was on. My average testing BP is 102/66. My doctor told me they know best but my quality of life is rock bottom. Lost my license and more or less house bound taking 14 medications a day associated with Heart failure, angina, DB2and copd. I have decided to drop to 5mg for a week before seeing the nurse. Seeing a doctor before then is out of the question. I'm a 76 yr was still active artist curator.

Bisoprolol level
My logic days by reducing and I feel better I have something to prove, thanks for your comment and will take on board
hi I’m also on 10mg per day I was on 12.5mg for a long times and get very tired an have to have a sleep in the afternoon. because my heart was racing still I had to go on to amiodarone which had got it back under control so they cut bisoprolol to 10mg I also have a ICD which the heart nurses can check what my heart is doing when I’m at home
You could usefully ask what BP and pulse they would like you to be as that dose is high and your BP pretty low. If they are aiming for say 120/75 or thereabouts the doses could likely be reduced.
Hi my cardiologist took me off them . He just stopped them without reducing them and feel so much better he was going to put me on amlodapine instead but my gp said No I don't need them . I had to do my BP for a week and it was in the lower side so he said I don't need them . I would listen to the professionals before stopping
Hello
You have replied to me not the person that did the post
I bet however you do feel better not been on them they do not suite everyone
I am on a low dose but my Surgeon insists I stay on it so agree everyone is different so you should listen to the professionals before you do anything
I hope you are keeping well x
This is a common issue with heart problems, achieving an acceptable balance between preserving life and living life.If you are recovering from a heart problem it's probably right to accept a bit of r and r, but eventually you need to return to an acceptable lifestyle.
This is often a problem with the medical profession, just preserving life is their main objective, getting off debilitating meds is more difficult.
It may take several months but I would try to slowly reduce or change meds until you feel you have achieved an acceptable level of energy, but with the help of your GP, but you have to be fully informed, it's your life.
Good luck
If the doctor insists you have 10mg of bisoprolol don't despair entirely. I'm on the same and felt like you but my body is used to it now.
bisoprolol can be problematic for people with type 2 diabetes - as far as i am aware Carvedilol is les problematic - have you asked your pharmacist about this? they may may be able to advise you, then you could try re-negotiating your meds with you cardiac nurse
also does your GP practice have a pharmacist who can advise on your medication? you are clearly on quite a cocktail, prescribed by various specialists who may not have taken all your conditions into account - for example Bisoprolol is often avoided where people have COPD
hi. I was exhausted on 10mg of bisoprolol and negotiated with the HF team to reduce to 7.5mg. Unfortunately it made no difference at all to my fatigue and my heart rate shot up by about 10 beats per minute. The HF team put it straight back up to 10mg and even though I still get tired, I'm trying to live with it. Im not saying it’ll be the same for you but if you can hang on for a week to try and reduce under medical supervision it might be better. Better safe than sorry. Good luck.
