last August on request from doctor went on 1.25 every other day for a month then every day because I am too sensitive to meds. Everything was great until December 2023 started really getting terrible anxiety was concerned that blood pressure going up due to this I did see GP in December and she suggested therapy I went along with her I had therapy. Carried on like you do but it keeps happening it makes me feel awful. I decided to book a call on Monday I was out on these to help with heart rate but I don’t think it was too bad. Resting heart rate was 72 that’s just before I get out of bed. When I sit in chair would be around mid eighties. The beta blockers lowered to roughly 76/78 Going to mention it to her I know that I shouldn’t but going to go back on every other day till then. I have read a lot of posts regarding withdrawals I hope I can do it I will take it slowly I can’t put up with is terrible anxiety

Hi, I hope your doing ok... I was on bisoprolol for a year on 1.25mg and literally stopped them the day the cardiologist said I could, I did speak with my GP and was told because the dosage was the lowest it wouldn't really affect me and was asked to check back with the GP in 6-8 weeks to report any side affects but I haven't experienced any of yet in a few weeks since coming off the bisoprolol 🤞🏻

bisoprolol is more related to treating cardiac maybe you could speak to your GP about a beta blocker that helps with the anxiety side of things as well (propranolol)

take care.

I can’t take bisoprolol, makes me very dizzy u well, also like pleurisy around back of ribs. Tried even a 1/4 of a pill but no good. Shame as Dr said it was the best med.

When I was taking it I cut one pill into 4 with a knife.

I was started on Bisoprolol 1.25/day for AF, it's working well for me. I found that it lowers BP and HR, no other side effects, perhaps you should get it increased to the minimum daily 1.25mg?

Hi Tinker. I had trouble with this med too, until I started taking it right before bed - now no longer feel side effects. Hope you get sorted

Flecainide made me anxious like that. Many of the heart meds can cause neuropsych symptoms like anxiety or agitation. I agree with the poster above who mentioned propranolol. What are you taking it for?

a clinician told me he thought my heart rate needed lowering but it not that bad resting was 72 before I got out of bed maybe mid eighties sitting down but beta blocker only lowered it by 8 so 75/78 sitting down

So you were taking it just for rate control? Do you also have Afib? There are certainly other meds that would be better just for rate control of sinus rhythm.

no other problems just the rate

There are many other options. I would ask to switch it to something else. Or try without it...

Hi Tinker 2015, I have recieved so many questions regarding this one drug, ( bisoprolol ) when I had my heart attack in 2019 I was placed on 10mg per day, it is only in the last few years that it has been reduced to 2.5mg, I have also been advised I will be on this drug for the rest of my life, it would appear from the request I get ( bisoprolol ) does not agree with other BHA members.
