In June 23, I had an ablation for SVT. The Consultant was pleased with how the procedure went and immediately took me off bisoprolol. Two weeks later, I was back in Resus with an SVT of 200. I understood that there was a possibility this could happen shortly after the procedure due to scarring. I was put back on the bisoprolol and was offered to go on the wait list for another ablation in Sept 23 after my follow up with a cardiac nurse. I said no at the time as the first one was traumatic enough and I wasn't convinced that it was essential as the SVT happened during the recovery period.
Fast forward to May 24 and having received no further follow up from the NHS as promised, I put matters into my own hands and saw the Cardiologist privately. He advised me to half my bisoprolol for a month and then come off completely. Two weeks later, I was back in Resus with a heartrate of 205. So now I have confirmation that the ablation wasn't effective and I need another. I am in the fortunate position to have private medical insurance to get this done within approx a month, but the whole experience has shattered me. My SVTs always need resus intervention and each episode is deeply traumatic. Now i have to go through another ablation and still live with the uncertainty of whether it has worked or not. As there are no triggers for my SVT, they take me by surprise which leads me to be fearful when travelling abroad where it will be more difficult to get emergency care. As I travel alone abroad for work, this can be tough.
I don't have a question as such, just voicing what a horrible place this is to be. I'm sure many others on this forum live with similar and can understand.
