Hey everyone! A little over 3 weeks ago i had an SVT ablation, I’m wondering how long it’s going to be until the palpitations go away completely? I never had palpitations this badly before, I know that this is probably my heart still healing and I know it’s different for everyone but I would really like to be off the Metoprolol and don’t see that happening soon bc it’s been helping to regulate my heart rhythm a lot.

I am afraid thsy it takes 3 months for the heart to heal after an ablation. If you feel really unwell you can speak to your heart nurse or gp. I had to go to the hospital for the electric shock treatment. Besr with it and you will feel better.

Hi, I had an ablation for AFib a month ago. My symptoms are much worse now, racing, very fast heart rates at any little action, palpitations even when resting, dizziness when getting out of a chair. I had a cardioversion two weeks ago but went back into Afib after three days.

My cardio says it's the reaction to the procedure and wants to put me on Amiodarone. I'm told it can be three to six months before the heart heals and before you know whether the ablation was a success or not. Let's hope!

The blanking period of 3 months is very important, my own ablation for svt proved successful, but I had lots of flutters during that period of healing. Be prepared for the eventuality of still getting flutters or ectopics occasionally though. I have NOT needed A&E treatment since the ablation 18 months ago, which was becoming all to often!

Thank you so much for the reply! I’m glad your ablation has been successful :)
