Bisoprolol withdrawal

I have come off a dose of 1.25mg bisoprolol as advised by my cardiologist. I came off a 2.5mg dose after ablation a year ago but was advised to go back on them after having another SVT event 2 weeks after ablation. After recent visit to cardiologist, he advised to wean down from 2.5mg to 1 month of 1.25mg before coming off completely. This is to see if ablation has been successful basically as I had another SVT event during recovery period last year. One week in, I am struggling with sleep and feel washed out today..has anyone experienced the same? I'm 41, no other health problems and have an active lifestyle.

If like me,you know these medicines keep your heart sort of safe and coming off them makes you anxious! I would see if you can get something like " pill in the pocket" so you have something with you incase of svt event

I have been keeping a pill in the pocket for years now and still will, although bisoprolol did not stop my SVTs nor did it ever work in an emergency....the only thing that reverts the rhythm in my case is adenosine hence why I had the ablation.

I’ll be on bisoprolol for life but have reduced from 7.5 to 5. I have a pill cutter and did it slower than the doctors said. I did it over about 2 months. It worked for me. X

It is a procedure used to treat irregular heart rhythms...info can be found on BHF website

hi. I have just come off bisprolol 1.25. Been on it maybe 10 months. I went every day for a week the halved it for two mornings every other day then stopped. I experienced a bad head for a couple of days. Rosacea apparently this can cause it. I was getting over heated this lasted 10/12 days sleep was bad but I think now the worst is over I kept an eye on pulse and blood pressure doctors request had to do readings for a week. My blood pressure was fine but pulse up to what it was prior to going on them. I think I was lucky

struggling with sleep, in what way? Bisoprolol gave me very vivid claustrophobic nightmares that broke my sleep patterns; obviously you are trying to wean off them completely, but meanwhile taking it in am might help if it’s the anxiety at night that breaks your sleep.

Unfortunately I had another SVT episode requiring A&E intervention, so I am back on the Bisoprolol.
