ablation or not to …

would appreciate any feed back on ablation for SVT . Am on waiting list but while waiting I am taking flecainide 50mg twice a day and Bisoprolol 2.5 mg twice a day which is keeping me well. Just occasional ectopics. Have not been given much info from hospital.just put on waiting list in March by cardiac nurse. Anyone out there who’s had a good result by having ablation ? I’m struggling to find any positives for it. SVT has been a life long problem for me and losing Disopyramide have had to have meds revised. Which have after trial and error have worked out well for. Any info would be much appreciated, although I know ultimately has to be my call.

Hey I had an ablation in August last year for SVT. I was nervous about it. I won't lie for me the procedure hurt like mad as I felt the laser each time. Apparently it was successful but I am still waiting for my follow up. I only ever had the one svt episode which my ICD detected. So I can't comment on if it was completely successful on my part. The only issue I have is pressure from the entry site. I was well looked after though.

I had one last May for rt ventricular 20% ectopics. Was amazing, zapped 5 places, can walk so much better now, and breathe, rarely have ectopics now. Do hope it works well for you. Liz

thank you Liz, appreciate your response, hope you keep well. Do they give you a sedative ? I know I have to not take my meds for two days before which is also stressing me out.

I was awake all through, found it very interesting. Local on groin for entry was painless.canula in arm in case needed pain relief. Long time mapping where trouble cells were, when located, they gave painkiller, felt warming of electrode, , heartwarming! , but no pain at all. They have to lean on entry point in recovery to slow blood flow, so vein heals quicker. Then lie flat for 2 hours, back on ward. Then home! Go gently for few days, then back to living. I had pain at entry site for few weeks maybe did too much too soon, but ok . Nothing to fear, hope all goes well.
