I had to go back to the GP with ongoing chest pains. He sent me to straight to hospital. I was admitted to a ward and given morphine and monitored. Cardiology registrar came to see me the next morning. As he said I have a lot of complex issues going on ! Problems with the bottom lead pacing the ventricles, which had been permanently switched off some time ago, as the lead has moved slightly and it is not safe to leave it on. I now have issues with an irregular heart rhythm, they don't know if it is caused by SVT, for which I take Flecainide for, or if it caused by Microvascular disease causing problems with the electrical conduction. I'm going to be referred back to the Electrophysiologist. The diagnosis is still MVA. Changes have been made to my medication. Two drugs have been stopped one of them is a beta blocker (spasms??) and I have now been put on Diltiazem. I have the option of adding Nicorandil and they have asked me to consider trying Ranolazine again. I will be seeking a referral to a specialist if I don't get this sorted out.

Another hospital admission
Hello,
I am sorry to hear you are back in hospital.
We are certainly a complex group of patients!
Beta blockers can make coronary vasospasms worse. I ended up in hospital after being prescribed beta blockers many years ago before my diagnosis of vasospastic angina was confirmed.
I am now on high doses of Diltiazem and Nicorandil.
I tried Ranolazine but it didn't help. I felt as though my heart kept shuddering to a halt, there would be a big pause and then my heart would start working again. It wasn't a great feeling wondering if my heart would start beating again.
When ever I start or increase any medication I keep a log of my symptoms and introduce one medication at a time.
It does sound a though you may need to see someone who understands microvascular and vasospastic angina.
I hope you are able to be home soon.
Hi Milkfairy, I'm home now. This happened on Tuesday. I know what you mean about Ranolazine. Taking Flecainide as well made my heart feel as though it had slowed right down and I was having horrible crushing type pain. I stopped it after 5 days. I told the doctor if you want me to go back on it sort the pacemaker out. I've already been complaining for a while that it feels as though my heart is beating in slow motion, its a strange sensation. I won't be going back on it any time soon. GP has details of specialist that I have asked to be referred to he has agreed to do if local hospital don't sort this out. I will be seeing my own GP next week about current situation.
hello,I have low mvd numbers after testing but also had a temporary pacing wire left in after surgery can I ask about your wire, how did they know it’s moved, and can they go in and move it as waiting to speak to surgeon to find out if mine can be taken out as I’m suffering pericarditis and feels like inflammation in my body now 4 months and only thing I can think is the wire left in causing issues, just got back from a&e not feeling rite still,I’m the same was on beta blockers but been put on ivbradine now with amlodapine for bp and but not feeling rite
Hello,
I am on Diltiazem another calcium channel blocker.
My Cardiologist only prescribes me Ivabradine for short periods when I am in hospital on a cardiac monitor.
I felt awful being on both Ivabradine and Diltiazem. It took about two weeks to feel better once I had stopped taking the Ivabradine.
Perhaps go and see your GP and tell them how you are feeling?
Hi milkfairy hope your ok,yeah I can’t tolerate diltazem it’s sends my pots mental been ok on ivbradine not great but better, and said I struggle with ccb and heartrate but said this don’t effect hr but today feels like it is,but I’ve gone back on colchcinie today so may have to stop that and see,not fun all this at the moment one step forward 5 back
Hi, I was getting brief runs of palpitations, heart felt irritated. Went to the pacing clinic about it and by running tests they could see something was not right. I had an xray they could see the lead had moved very slightly from where it should be. After a few weeks bottom lead had to be switched off, heart was irritated by the lead. It can't be moved as it is deeply embedded in the ventricle. I have been told it can be removed but it is risky.
