Going back through it again - error!

last year had an echo scan which confirmed the leaky heart valve but there were other changes, somehow someone then marked it as normal even though their were changes which weren't normal for me, through this it then wasn't acted upon.

fast forward to this year new doctors and more heart problems, the doctor saw the previous echo and told me it shouldn't of been marked as normal so am now facing yet another echo scan thanks to this error been made.

have just had my bloods and ecg taken so am waiting for the results my own gut feelings is that the heart valve isn't doing its job properly causing the issues i am having.

someone mentioned on my last post that if the heart isn't pumping properly it can cause the fluid problems i mentioned so now it is a waiting game.

what i don't like though is the waiting to have these tests done then again i am in the same club as everyone else on here and around the country, at least i know that the tests don't hurt which puts my mind at ease till the nitty gritty starts if it is referred.

i will be back on for more updates.

I have a slight leaky mitral valve for some time, I had an echocardiogram and monitor last year and I was diagnosed with benign ectopics and leaky mitral valve within normal limits. I have Svt. I can,t understand why I get such awful palpitations if all is ok.it does make you feel are they flippant in diagnosis

I'm going through all the tests again as previously results were brushed off as "normal no action ". Redone the echo which showed mitral leak and multiple ectopics and pauses. Treadmill tomorrow then monitor for 2 weeks on Friday, next appt with Consultant end of June 🙁 I'm actually fed up with all of it and just want something done asap.

Yes, I can empathise - my mitral valve saga has been going on for 8 years, firstly moderate, then 'you need surgery' and now I'm back to mild/moderate leakage.

I recently had a stress echo which was pretty good and I'm just waiting for 24 hour ECG results. I feel like my palpitations have got worse, but who knows? By the time I've had all the tests and results, it'll be time for my next 6 monthly appointment.

I know it's best to keep on being monitored, but it really feels like being on an endless rollercoaster.

Looks like there are many of us in the same boat!

I have to ask to get mine checked because something is causing the nightmare of palpitations and ectopics, I read that valve problems can cause this. I feel despondent because they seem to wait until something serious happens before they deal with it.

Have you contacted PALS at he hospital to complain and find out why the mistake was made? This is a serious error.

Sounds as if you are on the cusps between symptomatic and asymptomitic, and/or moderate and severe, where fine decision are taken. Operate too early and operation risk is bigger than bad things, operate too late then chance of bad things increases. I was on this cliff edge and they decided to operate. As always it’s not the decisions themselves it’s the waiting for results and appointments. GP should be your best mate in this regard. Good luck, Otto

so today i see this doctor who i can only describe as been bitchy this is someone on over £100,000 a year who was dismissive of everything i said and then to top it am now not been referred for the scan which i was told was been referred for, why because some arse at the local hospital had marked the previous scan as normal! she even tried to dismiss the heart valve problem until i told her it was confirmed and when she glimpsed it was oh.

my first echo confirmed only the leaky valve but wasn't stamped as normal but the second clearly showed changes to the first one but what i don't get is why someone would then stamp it in big writing as normal, if it was a ct scan with findings they wouldn't do this

she wants me to have a blood test but not sure if i really want it under these circumstances even though i am now getting extreme outputs and fluid build up.

so now because of this one single thing it is now preventing me from getting appropriate treatment and what else will it prevent. guess it will be a case of waiting for whatever to happen then the excuses will start like they all ways do.

my best chance of resolvment will be to wait for my district nurses to see the fluid build up again and get them to contact the surgery on my behalf.
