Ralph good today and they'd put a speaker button on his tracheotomy, so could speak a bit. Said they'll see how he goes today and tomorrow then maybe out on Sunday. I rang when I got home and they've taken the tracheotomy out at 1.30 after I left. He panicked a little from the shock, but is fine now and maybe moved to PCU tomorrow or Sunday 💗❤️☺️🎊🎉
Couldn't believe the speed at which it's happened. Thank you all for your support and messages, it means a lot.
He actually said the words "I love you"😂 happy tears.
Today would have been my mum and dads wedding anniversary, I think they were looking out for him xx ❤️
This is just the best news we could be reading and I am sure everyone will agree and what we have been waiting for
The shock must have hit him but I am sure he will get used to it and how lovely it will be when he is able to have a nice cup of tea
Of course he would say he loves you as you have kept him going and given him the biggest reason to keep fighting to get well so I am not shocked he said I love you to you
How fantastic to hear that by Sunday he might be ready to move down to PCU
I am sure your Mum and Dad will have been watching over you both and smiling today with this wonderful progress he has made
If you have time let us know if he moves to PCU on Sunday
How wonderful are the icu doctors and nurses who always do everything they can to get our loved ones back to us. I still have no words to express my thanks for their care of my husband last year. Very special people. So happy that your weekend starts with better news!
What good news sometimes its good just to pull the plaster off quick and he wouldn't of had time to worry about removing the tracheotomy and nor did you I'm so pleased for you both that thing are improving so much. I always look for your updates and its lovely to have such a positive one xx
That's fantastic news! He's doing amazing & what a day for this to happen on 🥰 It's certainly been an emotional roller coaster for you both. Fingers crossed he's moved to pcu & another step closer to coming home to you 🥰 xx
I am so, so pleased to read this update. What progress - absolutely amazing. And you are correct - things do more quickly 😀 I’m so glad he has turned a corner. Hopefully you will see a difference everyday. Please let him know we are all delighted for him. Take care
Good morning....I think we all feel like we know your husband now so it's lovely to hear about more progress and fingers crossed there will be daily positive changes. Xx
Oh I BET your Mum and Dad were looking out for him - and you too! Thank you so much for sharing what's such a deeply personal journey. Every time I read your updates I have happy tears in my eyes for you by the end, you have a beautiful way of engaging with others. We feel your feelings. I'm so happy for you that your Ralph is continuing to climb his road to recovery so well. It inspires us all. Wishing you both every blessing and sending love 💙🩷
l feel the joy you must be feeling. What a wonderful day? No stopping him now and he can start to enjoy things much more. Yoy said you hoped he would be better by Easter, which is only a fortnight away and you have got your wish. Another fortnight and it should be like old times. You can both smile again and be happy. Xxx
Hi Castleview, I have read everyone of your updates this is the first time for me to reply, I am over the moon for you both, wishing you both all the best for the future, what a strong man he is, sending all my love to you both 😊
I am sure your Mam and Dad have been looking out for him. Its amazing news and looks as if he is now on the long road to recovery and he will get there and you two make sure you treasure and enjoy all the years you have left together. Take care of yourself too Looking forward to next update
So pleased to read he is back on track and progressing well. Let's hope 🙏 he will be home soon and I am sure he will get better quicker being at home. Take care also. Brian
Beautiful… brings a smile on. With all the turmoil these days this is refreshing to read. Thank you for sharing !! And here’s to getting back to normal.
How wonderful!!!...looks like he has now reached a level of recuperation tjat is definitely putting that light at the end of the tunnel...what fighters you are...yes..one advantage is..his bypass wounds will have healed quite a bit by now...once he is breathing comfortably on his own...progress will be quicker..his limbs have not moved for a while..so muscle loss will be the next target..but so very happy for you both!!!
Sadly new update, back on ventilator and the tracheotomy going back in, too mad secretions and he couldn't clear them. They were going to leave him with the cuff down until Sunday or Monday before they removed it, but went early and this is the result, more distress
Really is 1 step forward and 1 back...that is sad to hear..hope you both have the strength to keep up the battle....would be so good if they could have somehow sucked out the secretions...will continue with prayers for you both...
So sorry to hear this castleview, one step forward two back but you both keep that fight going like you have from day one, sending you lots of love and support and thinking of you everyday x
I’ve not been posting re: your awful trauma, but have kept up with the struggles you’ve been going through. Ups and downs but it sounds very positive and it seems things are on the mend, I’m sure Bekind28 is right in that the trauma of the op is having a big effect on his body but 🤞🤞 is sounds as if things are progressing, I wish you both the best of luck 🥰🥰
This is brilliant news Castleview. Now things have speeded up a bit, there's hubby heading home on the horizon. I'm sure your Mum and Dad were smiling down on him (and you and the lads!).
This forum is such a lovely sounding board. I don't know where I'd have been without these lovely people when my hubby was first told he needed a quad bypass. Help and advice always available and lots of good friends to make, even if you don't see them!! You've made many friends and we've all been looking out for updates (I get my messages a day later than most so I've only just seen this!). Hubby Ralph will need to make sense of what's been going on and it'll take a little while to process - but he's got you and that's all he needs.
We look forward to the next part of your adventure together!
Just saw this, had internet issues. So sorry that it’s such a rollercoaster for you both. But thrilled to know that your lovely husband is called Ralph. To me, that’s a dashing hero, Errol Flynn type name, I hope he lives up to it!
