Ticagrelor and diarrhea

Hello. I was put on 90mg of Ticagrelor then had to come off them 5 days before having my pacemaker fitted. After restarting these again my stomach has been so upset with pains, cramps and uncontrolled diarrhea now for over 2 weeks. Doctors done all test and say it's a virus but I feel it's this medication because no one else in my house has caught this virus that the doctors say it is. Would really appreciate any information or advise from anyone who may have had similar problems with this medication.Thank you by

Thanks for your reply most appreciated. Yes I take the same dose too and really feel this medication is causing such stomach upset so if your stomach does not settle down which I hope it will then like me perhaps talk to your GP about this medication. Take care and thank you. X

on 90mg twice daily here, no issues with stomach upset at all. Also in Lansoprazole to protect stomach by reducing acid production.

Hello. All my meds give me diarrhoea I’m afraid. My consultant told me to keep taking my Nexium to try and prevent this. I’m prescribed named meds but if I’m given the generic that causes the upset. My GP always tries to prescribed named but some chemists try to change so I have to be alert when I collect them.

I try to keep constant check on my diet as some fruits can cause flare ups. I’m prescribed paracetamol for arthritis and paracodol. Paracodol contains codeine and this tends to stop diarrhoea. Take care

Hello Maisie. Thank you for your reply. I understand what you are saying and guess these meds can cause diarrhea. However I have had this diarrhea really bad for over two weeks and is happening 5or 6 times a day and making me feel so ill. Do you have this same problem? Just cannot keep any food or water in for long. Really appreciate your feedback. Thank you

I was on ticagrelor with no stomach problems at all but it did affect my breathing so it was changed to clopidogrel. No problems with it either except the obvious bruising

Good luck. I hated ticagrelor; the breathing problems really scared me. Absolutely no problems with clopidogrel. I hope it works for you.
