EF update

Yesterday I had a scan to see how my EF was doing. It’s gone from 23 to 30% since my last scan May last year. Been on top dose of Entresto for 5 months now so looking good.

Hi PinkKizzie. I went private this time. My next scan is mid summer and that will be my last apparently! I just really wanted to know how I was getting on and I’m travelling abroad with work soon so it put my mind at ease to know it’s improving.

Hi PinkKizzie. I don’t have private healthcare I just paid at a private clinic. £250. It was more to ease my anxiety. I’m being discharged after my next appointment which seems really quick!

Hi , I have moderate to severe stenosis of the aortic valve but have an EF of 67% . I’ve just been put on the list for a valve replacement at Papworth and am undergoing tests to work up to the operation. My annual echo’s haven’t shown any significant changes over the last 6 years but I have a bit of breathlessness on exertion now so my cardiologist feels the op should go ahead while I’m fit and relatively young (69)

Hi Kennydope, this is great news! I'm really pleased for you 👏🏻 how come your echo in the summer will be your last? Are they happy with your EF staying around the 30% mark?

My EF is currently 35% and they don't seem to have intention to let me go off their radar any time soon 😬

Hi Healthaddict30. The consultant isn’t really interested in my EF he just goes by how I feel. Hopefully they’ll be some more improvement in my EF by the summer. That’s why I ended up going private to get a scan. My HF was caused by a silent HA and they expect the damage done to improve with time. No scarring thankfully.

I am asymptomatic and back to relative normality work/gym etc! My next visit to the cardiologist will be my last unless I begin to get breathless or swollen legs. I’ve e been discharged by the heart failure nurse as well!

My EF went up from low 20s to high 30s after taking Entresto etc. my symptons of breathlessness and palpitations are much reduced. If they returned I would be back on to the medics.

Keep taking the tablets.

How long did it take for your ef to go up to high 30’s?

Hi

I was diagnosed with HF in the May after a scan and I had a follow-up Echo in the October, so 4/5 months. Obviously I don’t know how quickly my EF improved in that period. Personally I would take a guide from the, hopeful, improvement in symptons.

Hi Barre01 . That’s a great improvement in a short time. Mine went up from 5-10 % to 23% in hospital over a month. I’ve not had any symptoms since I left hospital. That’s all my consultant seems to go on.

Hi PinkKizzie. Hopefully by the time you get your next scan your EF will have improved. It seems to be the current wonder drug at the moment so fingers crossed! Keeping active seems to be just as important though.

Great news...and should even improve with time...always wonderful to see the EF improving...I do an echo every 6 months..also take entresto and bisoprolol..lowest dose because otherwise my BP gets too low..and in 18 months my EF has gone from 37 to 49...so these drugs do work...

Hi Elsabounre hopefully it will go up further. I was starting from a very low base 5-10% when admitted into hospital last year so it is a big improvement. I can also only manage a low dose of Bisoprol due to BP. 5mg a day.

You certainly have done well..it all depends on the reason we need to take the drugs..My Bisoprolol dose is also under 1 mg..an my Entresto dose is also minimum due to BP...but still you have seen such an amazing improvement in your EF...best of luck..
