I have HF and a pulse rate of 30 obvious ly I have a pacemaker but technition turned it off to see how heart was doing.Is heart rate the same as EF? and what do the initials actually stand for?I know there are a lot of very knowledgeable people out there who can explain it to me.Thank you

EF & HR are different. EF is ejection fraction & is used to measure the volume of blood that is ejected from your heart.

Don't get hung up on it, most cardiologists are more interested in symptons rather than EF which is just an indication of heart failure.

Does the md give you paperwork? Education type? Usually broken down into a language we can semi understand? Then you can build your questions from there?

Thank you for replying.Have an appointment for October.I`ve never had much follow up treatment.I think I fell through the net for many years but since being diagnosed with cancer I`ll be having scans every six months and cardiology and oncology seem to be working together now,so that`s encouraging.Best wishes Jen

Is your cardiac problem related to your cancer treatment. Or no one has mentioned that?
