Interested to know if you have to restrict or keep an eye on your daily fluid intake?

I was taking these tablets in summer as my ankle and feet were swollen. However we had to stop it as my BP was getting very low and experiencing dizziness. Take care

I also am on furosimide on an as need basis, and weigh myself daily with no restictions on fluid intake.

I was on furosimide daily and not being monitored as often as I should have been. I ended up in hospital with something unrelated to the drug, but they found that my sodium and potassium where both dangerously low because I was peeing it all out. They took me off it. You need to be careful with it.

Furosemide was the first med i was given when my HF was diagnosed in September and it's been great for me. I've never had any further swelling in my ankles and my BP has been ok. I haven't had any dramatic weight gain. Maybe a pound on but back off the next day. Perhaps its my scales that are wonky. I got and ICD implant in November and all seems to be well with that. The part i hate the most though is the 2 litre limit on fluid intake. I have always liked a few pints but even when it wasn't that, i always had a glass of juice or a cup of tea beside me so it's torture not being able to do this. I stopped the beer immediately i was diagnosed but the habit of always having something on hand to sip at is hard to break. Good luck.

I strongly suggest hat you discuss this with your GP. Furosamide is a prescription only medicine and is normally prescribed as a daily dose taken in the morning.

If you have a fluid retention problem causing weight increase, this could affect your heart. Taking Furosamide to suddenly remove the retained fluid could affect your kidneys.
