Should I take tablets all at once ?

I am on aspirin, clopidogrel, atorvastatin, bisoprolol, ranexa, amlopidine, lansoprazole and finasteride.

I usually take all but lansoprazole and statin together first thing in the morning. I take lansoprazole later and the statin last thing at night.

Today I took the lansoprazole along with the other six in the morning and have felt weak and unwell all day.

So getting to the point . . . would it be better to space out multiple tablets instead of taking most of them all at once? I know that combining them probably increases the risk of harmful interactions.

What do others on this forum do?

lansoprazole needs to be taken on an empty stomach. Statins are best taken at night.

Some of your tablets might state they are best taken with food.

So that might answer some of your questions- which would be better answered by a pharmacist

hi Bi zzyit will certainly help if you take your lansoprozle first thing in the morning and do not eat for about an hour, this is how it's meant to be taken and certainly worked for me, I take most of the meds you have mentioned and I take them all together after my breakfast and have no problem .

Hope that helps

Regards Max

Advice on Lansoprazole seems to vary from 30 minutes to an hour before food. I keep mine by my bed and take them as soon as I get up in the morning, which gives me about the right time before breakfast. Anything without a specific time mentioned (Clopidogrel, Bisoprolol & Lisinopril) I take while preparing breakfast

Hello bizzy55, I am on similar medication to you but this is how I space mine out following the advice from a cardiac nurse - morning empty stomach Lansoprozole. After breakfast I take the aspirin, Clopidogrel, Diltiazem and my new recently prescribed Ranexa. Then at about 6pm I take my second Ranexa along with Ramipril. Then bedtime it’s the statin and second Diltiazem. So spreading them out has certainly helped me.

Please can I ask why you have been prescribed the Ranexa as I have just been prescribed this too. Thanks and good luck ❤️🧚🏼‍♀️

I was put on Ranexa last year as treatment for angina. It was only partially successful. Then I had my stent inserted last July and was told to immediately come off Ranexa. The stent made little difference to the angina so I was put back onto Ranexa and the main symptom of angina, a burning sensation in the chest, seems to have gone now. The theory is that I have microvascular angina which can only be treated by drugs such as Ranexa.

Hello again thanks for replying. Sorry to hear about the procedures and troubles you’ve had. You’ve been on quite a journey haven’t you? Yes, I’ve been prescribed Ranexa for the Microvascular Angina too but am surprised we aren’t properly tested before a diagnosis is made. Just wondered if you were prescribed them for the same issue. Thanks again and you look after yourself. Best wishes and good luck ❤️🧚🏼‍♀️

I take 6 pills a day and space all of mine out through out the day, I was sent home from hospital with it set up that way and have continued for almost 10 years. Hope you get it sorted out.

Hi, i think im repeating what others have said...I take my Lansporazole first thing...they sit by the side of the bed...then dont eat for half an hr. All the others i take as i go to bed (i know i should take my clopidogrel just after food), so far this seems to be working!!

Some statins including rosuvastatin and atorvastatin can be taken in the morning and also at night, others including simvastatin are to be taken at night. Aim to take them at the same time each day. I take atorvastatin at night since the liver makes most cholesterol overnight. As others have said Lansoprazole (and other PPIs) should be taken in the morning on an empty stomach and then wait 30 minutes before eating, but I rarely do that and don't notice any difference whether I wait or not. I then stagger all my other meds over the day in order, but don't have a rigorous timetable, more likely when I remember. But that's me. I suggest anyone who takes a lot of medication and is not sure when to take individual doses, they discuss with a pharmacist.

Hi I had a stent fitted last October and took clopidogrel, lansoprazole and aspirin together as the lansoprazole offsets harmful affects of the aspirin on the stomach. I took my atorvastatin after evening meal and still do. Having said that it's always best to check with your GP if you have any concerns in taking all together.
