Meds Review.

Had a meds review yesterday with the very helpful Pharmacist attached to our GP surgery. I have spoken to him before when he switched me from lansaprozole to famotidine. He even asked me how I was getting on with that yesterday.Went through all my issues which may be linked to my meds: tiredness, fatigue, flatulence, muscle aches and pains, weakness, etc. He asked loads of questions. Will now switch from Atorvastatin to Rosuvastatin but he also sent me a link to book a blood test at local hospital to check my thyroid, iron, b12 and vitD. He could see results of my most recent blood test for cholesterol, hb1ac, etc whilst he was talking to me.

Will be interesting to see if this improves things.

Oh, and on a side note. On one of my recent stays in hospital I was given an echocardiogram, it was unusually quiet and the guy needed someone to practice on 😃. As well as heart he looked at my spleen, gall bladder, kidneys, lungs and liver. As a result they, he was being supervised, spotted some "simple" cysts on my kidneys and said they would refer me for a non-urgent outpatient scan. Well, had a phone call the other day and booked in for that tomorrow. Was expecting to wait months for that.

That’s really good that you have a pro-active pharmacist. I would be interested to see how you get on with the Rosuvastatin. My mum also takes Atorvastatin and I’m sure this has contributed to an increase in legs cramps for her.

Sorry to hear about the kidney cysts. At least you can be reassured that they are “non-urgent” and your appointment is soon!

Good luck.

Thanks, our GP surgery gets a lot of bad press but that's mainly due to problems getting through on the phone or waiting for appts. However, I have always found them really good when you get to see a Dr or talk to the pharmacist. You can use a callback if the phone is busy and I have found that workss pretty well, the other day they phoned back after about 15 mins, or failing that by calling in at the surgery and talking to the receptionist. They are pretty good at booking me in for regular blood tests and my annual hypertension/diabetes review.

I'll keep you posted on how I get on with the new statin.

where do you live? I'm moving in!! That's amazing care! The NHSat the 'sharp end' is amazing, it's the 'managers' and pen pushing clipboard carriers that give it a bad name!
