Morning all, just a quick update, feeling much better in myself at the moment, but on this Drs round I had my first visit from one of the “ Red Men”- the theatre Dr, this panicked me.
He explained that they r still waiting for the breathing team to see me to decide which surgery. I think my breathing tests will obviously be much better than in the past, but this is where it gets tricky because the better they are the more they will go for the proper surgery rather than Tavi, and this will definitely make me bomb down.
ThankdI’ll update on the tests when they happen

Both types of Op have their merits. Please dont feel down if you get the less preferred option.
I found the cardiology staff pretty wonderful. A true cut above general hospital staff.
In my case there was a lot of discussion whether OHS or TAVi. I had the option. So don’t think one is inferior.
And Arsenal will be waiting for you when you get home.
I was a Watford season ticket holder. My family are solid Tottenham, mum was born outside the old ground. But one of my favourite cousins decided to go to Highbury. He was very keen on his soccer.
Whichever op you have, you will be thrilled with the outcome. You have a new life ahead. Just hang on until you get the op.
As it gets closer, the anxiety jumps and I know the reason why, I had an serious op about 25 yrs ago, whilst under I pulled all my tubes out and when I came round the nurse said” thank Christ he’s back” I’m afraid cos I was out and about in my younger days I didn’t take it seriously, But I have had one thought, big as a I am I think I was this weight then and got through it so it’s just a case of my COPD concerns but they’ve got that better since I’ve been hereI was born in north London and it was my uncle who took me to my first match when I was knee high to a grasshopper
by far the worst part of OHS is the waiting, so you are currently in the very worst part. It all gets better once they can do your op.
I assure you that you will be well and truly out for the count once they get you to the theatre ready for the surgeon.
there just might be a few seconds between you being awake and being unconscious. If you feel you might do something really silly then tell the staff. I walked to the table then had the drugs. I was thinking of saying can you please gas me then put the needles in. But I was asleep in the time it takes me to think. Woke up a long time later, like two days later.
I was born in Barnet. Now I live in deepest rural Essex. So Basildon would be my cardiac hospital. But Basildon was closed during covid and I ended up in a London west end hospital. The staff were just fabulous.
Tell the staff of your concerns. They can then be ready if you lose control. The hospital had a few really big bouncers. One female. Not necessary for little me, but they do not mess around. Huge fellas.
Stay strong highburyted . They will recommend the best type of surgery/procedure based on your current medical status so try not to worry and know that you’re in safe hands.
