my husband had a double by pass 4 weeks ago and he’s really doing well. He had half a glass of wine yesterday as we had some guest over . Is it ok ?

Having wine after a bypass
What's done is done. If he enjoyed it and it brought a smile to his face after a few weeks of feeling rubbish then yes its OK in my view. Had it been half a bottle though.....
thank you so much. it was only a small wine glass.
The term 'after the horse has bolted' springs to mind. 😉
Seriously though, I spoke to my cardiac nurse about this after my by pass and she said a small amount of alcohol was okay, however I think the magic 6 weeks should have been the 'go' point.
I am assuming your husband has an appointment to see the surgeon or one of his team after 6 weeks, that is when, if all is okay, he will get the go ahead to drive and any other 'intimate' things. I would ask the Dr about alcohol then.
I am sure 1/2 glass won't hurt him, but I think he is better off getting the go ahead from the medics.
Dear Masteroftime,
The benefits that you and your husband got by being surrounded by friends and loved ones with a small glass of wine, will out weigh any negatives.
But that's not a green light to move onto a bottle ! {yet } little by little and like his recovery, slow and surely.
Embrace those friends, laugh, cry and if a small glass of what you fancy enhances that, then so be it.
Take care
Hello
I agree that I might wait for that 6 weeks and then yes a small glass of wine should not harm anyone just make sure whatever medications he is taking it says they are ok t drink with
I hope your Husbands recovery goes really well x
