I had a balloon angioplasty on my LAD in May after discovering I had a total blockage. Prior to this I had angina pain whenever I exerted myself. Since then I have not had any angina at all but over the last week I have had a squeezing deep throbbing pain in my upper arm and into my neck. I have also felt a bit light headed every so often. The difficulty though is that I have fibromyalgia and I do get chest pains and aches from condrochronitis so it's very hard to decipher if the tightness I get is that or heart related. My partner things that the arm pain could be a trapped nerve. My mum thinks I should go to A&E! I don't want to cause a fuss! Any thoughts or anyone had anything similar happen?many thanks.

Left arm pain
All new chest pain needs to be checked out. Come on we're talking about your heart here, get yourself to A&E.
angina is usually caused by lack of blood supply to the heart muscle (ischaemia) - this can show up as chest pain, but it can also show up as arm, neck, back, shoulder or jaw pain, as well as feeling like indigestion or "heartburn" - i understand your reluctance to go to A&E for something which seems minor but if this pain is not clearing up after 10 minutes you really should seek medical advice - have you thought of ringing your GP surgery or 111?
Definitely go to A&E asap. I had an angioplasty and seven months later had cardiac arrest and another HA in the hospital. My (entirely unproven, of course) theory is that the angioplasty threw my heart for a loop, as it were. What I mean is that I was asymptomatic before the angioplasty, cardios said my heart had created new pathways for the blood to compensate for the blockage. Anyway, long story short, you can have heart issues very soon after an angioplasty...and, there's restenosis if you had a stent, too...
Go to A and E and make a fuss
Hi. I hope you went to A&E and got sorted. Let us know how you got on. X
accidentally posted as a reply to jeanjeanie50 - so here it is, hopefully in the right place!
