Just got back

I have just had an echocardiogram, I asked could they see anything?

Was told nothing jumped out at them but 50 images taken, I would have to wait until until they have been analysed. I also asked what was ejection fraction, got the same answer, so I am non the wiser atm.

Hello :-)

I think it sounds quite promising nothing jumped out at them when I had mine they told me straight away I needed a Triple Bypass , I am not sure it even took 5 minutes to get that news

I know they have to take everything away and study it more in depth but as nothing jumped out at them if and of course it is an if they did find something I would say it would be nothing to serious , so try and not always easy to relax and soon you will know but for now as I said I would be happy with what they have said today :-) x

Hi, my experience of echos is that the technicians are not allowed to tell you anything. The readings need to be analysed by a professional. On the bright side, if there was anything drastic they would have consulted there and then and not let you leave. At least, that's what I was told. You should have the results quite soon so just try and be patient.

Exactly the same fir me; I was very eager to find out how my heart seemed on the echo but she couldn't tell me.

It was the Consultant who did mine so that is why I got told within 5 minutes of it been done :-) x

How long have you actually been waiting?

Obviously not long then!

For the echo or the results?

The results, how long since you had the Echo?

On our echo wall outside the room it says please do not ask about what's seen as our sonographers will not tell you. The results will be sent to your Gp within a week. Yer right. Took at least a month then my surgery didn't tell me the results were back. I had to fight to get them.

You are entitled to a copy of the letter sent to your GP. I get a separately mailed copy of everything the cardiologists send to the GP.

Hi, By the sounds of it, the Echo went well.I can normally gauge if it's a good one or not, based on time taken and if the sonograher is chatty or just clams up.

An initial 'Nothing jumped out' would put it in my rating as Good pending confirmation.

Try and be patient, you'll get told or receive the results in due course. In my experience, you would find out quick enough if there was a problem.

Best wishes
