After being at the blood clinic last Monday repeat bloods from my annual test. Told yesterday needed to talk to the doctor today. Phone call this morning, told my kidney function as improved slightly from the previous week, but will check again middle of January, but I am anemic my iron is down and my folate is low so have to take tablets for the next 4 months and they will check again when I have completed the course. So not as bad as I feared 😉a bit worried they were going to start altering my meds, today is my birthday so not to bad a present 😂

Thank you, I have had a lovely day, I have continued to feel just fine. The bloods were picked up at my yearly check, was a bit concerned about my kidney function dropping but that’s on the way back up so hopefully mid January when it’s tested again it will be good😉 and the iron and folate work and I will be tickity boo😂
Happy birthday still haven't had my results from bloods or mri glad to hear yours going the right way fingers crossed mine will to I'm opposite to yours much iron 🤔
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Paulineeeeeeeee happy birthday to youuuuuuu 🥳🥳
Hope you had a lovely day, you certainly deserve one 💐🎂🍹
Pleased your kidneys are doing better, you must feel exhausted and tired being anaemic, it’s not great is it, once I’d taken my meds for a while I realised how unwell I was before, felt so much better.
Thank you so much the thing is I feel really ok it was only picked up at my yearly blood test. When I had anaemia last they gave me a blood transfusion, so until today and I spoke to the Doctor I was a bit worried it would be the same again. Anyway it’s iron and folate for 4 months and they will check again and they will check my kidneys the middle of next month to make sure they are behaving 😂 all in all I have had a lovely day have seen all my granddaughters even though it was on FaceTime have seen both my sons and seen my brother in the States so feel very blessed tonight. Hope you’re having a good day it’s been a bit frosty up here but a bit brighter than it’s been. Have a walnut whip😉 l have just had a lovely cup of coffee and a piece of chocolate cake naughty but nice😂
Hi, I am on a high dose of furosemide and have been since my surgery, so thinking my kidneys are working really hard. When I was in hospital before surgery I had my blood tested daily to check on my kidneys. So maybe that. Just hope they are still ok in January. This is the first wobble in 4 years so hope it’s a one off.Pauline
Know exactly how you feel, my skin was always on the greasy side, and I never used moisturiser but now have to use it every day. Like you hairs the same, but it’s something I suppose we get used to, and as you say the fluid is under control.
Happy belated b day🎉 I also got my blood results yes and were all normal so that's good news too and like u say any news these days is good news is nt it my cholesterol is 4.5 which is. Good (I think) well doctor was happy with it n I was relieved as I d a water infection last wk on anti biotics but feeling so much better 😊now hope everyone on here is fit and well xxxx😊
Thank you, so pleased to read your blood tests came back A OK, having a water infection is awful hope your feeling so much better.I will just have my fingers crossed for mid January and my kidney function is behaving itself 😂 and these folate and iron tablets do their job.
Ye I hope it s all Good for u. Ye I forgot how bad a water Infection makes u feel. As its that long since I had one but was glad to be feeling better take care Christine xx
Thanks Jane, had a lovely day, must admit was a bit nervous waiting for the phone call yesterday, thought my kidneys were struggling because of the water tablets and I know I need them to help my heart but they have improved so they will check them mid January so fingers crossed that they are doing ok. Had anaemia 4 years ago and had to have a transfusion so thought here we go again but they are going to try folate and iron for 4 months see how the bloods are then. Thing is I feel fine not overly tired it was only picked up on my normal yearly blood check.Hope your doing ok, hope your Rams are behaving themselves.😂
Happy birthday. Do you know if your vitamin b12 was checked too. It is often a good idea to get copies of your results so that you can keep an eye on things changing.
Thank you, yes B12 was normal, these things were picked up from my yearly bloods, the repeated test was to check B12 Folate U&E and a FBC.Take care Pauline
That’s good. Hubby was low in folate a couple of times, then his iron was low, then his b12 was low - I suspect now it was dropping but within range for several years before being treated as he had been on omeprazole and metformin for a least ten years and they are one of the causes of b12 deficiency.
Happy Birthday (for yesterday 😀). Pleased to hear that all is going in the right direction.
I take a Vitamin B Complete to maintain my levels and control my homocysteine level which was high prior to treatment. I was due a blood test at the beginning of April, but it got cancelled and I haven't heard anything since. Hopefully it will be picked up next year, if not I will have to chase it up. I was having difficulty getting them to include a test for homocysteine as they don't understand what it is at my GP surgery, yet it has been established as being the cause of the blood clot that gave me a HA. 😯
Thank you, must admit was very nervous waiting for the results of the repeats. Fingers crossed these tablets do the job and my kidneys keep behaving themselves 😂
Fingers crossed you will stay on top of it. I take lots of meds as l have liver disease (autoimmune not alcohol) I’m 70 on Monday. We just keep plodding don’t we x
Happy birthday for Monday, the big 70, congratulations. I was 73 yesterday, must admit can’t believe that I am that old! Don’t know about you but sometimes wonder where have all the years gone😉
I was also wondering where the years gone. We are both here fortunately. I’m just starting my heart journey and waiting for ultrasound results. I will keep you posted. x
That would be great let us know how you get on. This heart road we are travelling on can be quite lonely so being here on the forum with other hearties is such a bonus.
Thank you, doing my best, 4 years down the road from Aortic valve replaced and bypass am feeling good, problem picked up on my yearly blood test but hopefully easily put right😉 Pauline
Hi Billy Don’t know about that, but you will be great, just follow the instructions your given, one of the exercises you will be given is for your breathing I called it huffing and puffing 😂 and a coughing one. Theses your told by your physio to do hourly. When you get home continue to do them, they really help. Remember your lungs have taken a hit as well as your heart, when we are on bypass our lungs collapse so we need to help those little pockets to re inflate.
I know it’s a scary place you’re looking into but believe me it’s not as bad as our imagination is making it.
That’s great, you will be good to go.When I was waiting for my surgery I decided that I would do everything I could to help keep my mended heart as healthy as I could, so many people had worked so hard to give me my life back I had to do my bit.
Being in the Central Belt in Scotland, we have been in tier 4 for the past couple of weeks we are due for review 11th, are numbers are still high so don’t know what will happen.
We're in the Midlands so from lockdown easing on the 2nd December, we've been put in Tier 3. The government may review this in a couple of weeks but to be honest, I dread Christmas and the actions of a lot of silly people!! I'm sure there'll be a further flare up next year! Take good care of yourself - Jan xx
It’s only human to think the worse I know, but my first reaction was it’s my kidneys! I am on such high dose of water tablets to help my heart, so I know my kidneys are really working overtime 😩 but the numbers have come back up a little bit so will see how they are next month. And the folate and iron tablets hopefully bring my numbers up. But hey Ho fingers crossed and it will be all good😉
Happy birthday 🎂 I hope you are having as good a day as you can, great to hear kidney function has improved, great news, I have mine on Tuesday hoping for the same, take care char x
I will keep you posted, I got word this morning that my heart condition was caused by a faulty gene, it was arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy and not dilated, just a bit worried I have passed it on to my boys, they have to get tested now, my brother as well, some of the signs are coarse curly hair, persistent uti's and bad skin, have them all, you would never think that would point to a faulty gene and heart disease, only me could have something like that 🤔char x
Oh Char, so sorry to read that, but look at it that it’s been found and your boys can be checked along with your brother. I know it’s no way the same but when the surgeon came to see me after the op, I asked about my Aortic valve, and asked if it was my own fault to much good living so it was calcified he said it was clear just worn out! I said I am 68 thought it would have lasted a bit longer and he said you are either born with good genes or your not! My father had lots of the same symptoms as me before he died and a cousin the same, so I had a few sleepless nights worrying. If I had passed something on, both my boys have it on there health records just incase. But haven’t been screened like your boys they will be ok I am sure but can understand your worry.
Thanks again,my youngest and my brother got tested for dilated cardiomyopathy, and both were fine, my younger son has curly hair and bad skin, I hope that is just a coincidence, unfortunately my eldest point blank refused to go and get tested, I suspect he will be the same this time, I so wish he would for the sake of his daughter, not much myself or his wife could do or say to make him go, he is 42 old enough to decide himself I suppose x
My youngest is 46, and very health conscious, eldest not so much he will be 49 in December, but both have had an ECG just to check. They have 5 daughters between them, so I think they both thought it was something they should do. But Char as you say he is a grown up and you can’t make him go. It’s still a worry for you though.
I know, his wife was really angry with him, but he still wouldn't go, that's great your boys went, it sounds like you have a lovely family, I only have the one Granddaughter she is 13 now, my youngest didn't want a family he is 40 next year I doubt he will change his mind now, I know their appointment will take a while, so I better not dwell on it too much x
Try putting it on the back burner as my Mum used to say, I know easier said than done. Fingers crossed and there is no gene overlap! and the appointment comes through quickly.Craig who is my eldest is in Perth Western Australia with 3 of my granddaughters, he’s the one who was working on the house and managed to put an electric drill through his hand and sent me a very graphic photo saying Mum look what I have done 😩 now what on earth can I do 10,000 miles away apart from tell him to go to A&E 😂 he might be nearly 50 but sometimes I just wonder 😂 he is a Civil Engineer and as a high pressure job but sometimes I just have to wonder 😂
