I have not come across these in relation to cardiac issues but I have wearing my diabetes hat. There were unsubstaintiated claims about how they stabilised blood sugar particularly in Type II. The general conclusion was that they did not. I doubt they would help with palpitations and ectopics but if you wish to try you need to run it past your GP/cardiologist first.

Two friends have had good results by eliminating triggers like caffeine, alcohol, chocolate and spicy foods. Have you tried this?

Thank you for your reply. I have weaned off bisoprolol and it has left me with terrible palpitations. I have tried everything under the sun to calm them and have resorted to a private consultation with Dr Gupter who suggested a 7 day heart monitor. If the burden of ectopics is excessive he has suggested that I may need an ablation or try further medication which after the nightmare time I had taking and withdrawing from bisoprolol I am very very reluctant to try any other medication because of the volume of side effects.

I was told magnesium, calcium “can” help people with W topics by a cardiologist,I take electrolyte tablets daily now because they have all these in them.

I'm taking magnesium taurate for mine [with my gps blessing]. Ah I see you have talked to Sanjay. I did the 7 day monitor and had my first talk with him last night. Such a lovely guy and tells it like it is. Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. I a. Taking Magnesium Citrate 200mgs a day which hasn’t touched the ectopics.I haven’t got AF just thousands of ectopics a day which are very uncomfortable.

Did it take very long for your results to get back to Dr Gupter after your 7 day monitoring? I really don’t want to go on any medication as I always seem to get numerous side effects.

Hi Nannyknitting, only sent it off today. It goes to the lab first and they do the report. Carrie his assistant sends it on to me and then Sanjay rings. I will let you know how it goes. He has had a good look at my last echo which I sent to him via email. This was nice because he could confirm that my heart is strong.

Hi Nannyknitting,I have not seen much evidence of the benefits of Taurine and/or Arginine but there are some other supplements with evidence. I have experimented with a number of them and had great results. The 2 key supplements being Ubiquinol (CoQ10 KANEKA brand) and Magnesium Glucinate (or Taurate or Citrate). Have a look at at my story below. I went from chronic PAF (with ectopics) to zero palpitations...

Hi Gladstone,

Are you still taking Ubiquinol, magnesium glucinate, L carnitine?

How is your progress?

I read about taurine , arginine and iodine and now wondering what would be best for my husband’s a fib. He is now on flecanide 100 mg 2x a day and 2.5 mg concor.

Efforts to reduce flecanide dose by half resulted in afib.

Hi Millbrook,Yes, I still take all the same supplements as reported in my story. I have been afib and ectopic free since June 2020. I still take the prescribed meds which include a beta blocker and an anticoagulant although I have reduced the anticoagulant dose because the supplements enhance the Apixaban effect. I think the key supplement for me is Magnesium but I am sure the others play their part too.

I have tried Flecanide but it gave me an allergic reaction. It is a strong drug! I would suggest that you might try slowly increasing the dose of Magnesium and see how he feels.

I take 1000mg Taurine and 500mg L-Arginine 3 times a day, approx 5 hours apart.. on days when I’m having more than usual I will take a extra taurine in the morning.. I was taking 1000 mg of the L-arginine as well for a month or so but I like to take the least amount possible of whatever I take so I cut it down to 500 and it still seems to help. I also take coQ10 and a 99mg potassium twice a day.

Once a day I take calm magnesium drink too

in reply toNiki_

Thank you for your information I will try the taurine and L arginine, I also have 200mgs of magnesium citrate in an evening.I was only have palpitations/ectopics for a few hours each day when I went on bisoprolol, That was a big mistake had so many severe side effects and even more palpitations and took me 8 months to wean off and it’s left me having 2000 plus ectopics a day which is very debilitating.

My doctor wanted me to try that.. I had a 12% pvc rate a day.. I just didn’t feel comfortable taking it so I refused and have been trying natural treatment.. I know my pvc rate is reduced BUT I do still get pvcs. I intend to do another halter monitor in the coming months to see where I am at now.. I would guess I’m around 5% currently most days.

Hi Niki,Can I assume that everything is still OK?

What is your current supplement load?

Cheers,

Hi … yes everything is good… I have switched some things around .. I now take 400 mg of magnesium glycinate, 2000 mg of taurine and 500 mg of l-arginine as soon as I wake up and then about 8 hours later I take 1000mg of taurine, 500 l-arginine and 200 magnesium glycinate… if I’m having a off day for some reason ( from stress or hormone fluctuation) I may take a additional 1000 of taurine in the middle of the day but that’s just like once a month or so
