Deal All,

I need your opinion as a new medical finding raised a concern. And I am worried.

First, relevant health history

1. paroxysmal AF

2, mitral valve regurgitation (moderate)

3. pneumonia September 2023 (hospitalised) with pleural effusion (treated)

****

Here are new findings regarding my heart/health issues.

Generally, I feel fine but for the swelling in my ankles ...

Due to swelling in the ankles and minor breathlessness, my GP organised a heart-related blood test.

My result was 'abnormal': 2430ng/l

NT-proBNP >2000 ng/L - high levels; refer to rapid access Heart Failure.

I am waiting to hear from UCHL Hospital's heart failure clinic.

Any thoughts or shared experiences on the condition of the high level of NT-proBNP (2430ng/l)

Thank you for your attention.

Best wishes.

My BP is around 2000 and has been like that for a few years. Nobody seems particularly bothered by it. I have right sided heart failure and a severely leaking tricuspid valve...no repair possible for a variety of reasons. I also have Afib. and take Apixaban,Bisoprolol and a small diuretic dose daily. Oh yes. and |I am nearly 86. ...out and about and in fairly good health ...so far.

Thank you for the response. I feel encouraged by seeing that there is a prospect of the body's resilience in the heart's misfunctions. Hopefully, I will find out more after seeing a specialist. Not knowing what is going on with 'heart failure' is worrying... All the best.

Thank you very much for your feedback. I hope the medicine you are taking is looking after you. I do not know what is 23% heart function and how it is measured. Sill, I am yet to discover my prospects after seeing a specialist (for the first time since last May) at the Heart Failure Clinic. I will let you know of the results. Best wishes!

A normal heart function is 50% and anything below is classed as heart failure. The lower the number the worse it is.
