2 months after heart attack i am in bewteen a rock and a hard place. The surgery i am under is a rural practice so a differnt Dr each day. One thinks i am suffering from anxiety the other thinks its one of medications im on. Ramipril 1.25, prasugrel 10mg, atorvastatin 40mgs, bisprolol 1.25 and asprin. one tells me to double bispropol and drop statin which i did and suffered in afternoon with racing heart. The other tells me to leave of bisprolol and re start statin and has prescribed citalopram which is for anxiety.I read the leaflet and not for people with heart problems! I give up, I feel so ill with the trembling feeling in my stomach every day which lasts all day as soon as i wake up and gets worse after eating.I cant sit still as its worse when not doing anything.Maybe its a combination of both. Its so hard to be positive when you dont feel well .i live alone which does not help although good family near by.No help or appointments from cardiogy they just leave problems with GPs now because of covid.
Anxiety and heart medication. - British Heart Fou...
Anxiety and heart medication.
Its very hard not to be anxious, I am 3 months in and still have moments of panic and dread!
I am not a medical expert, just a normal bloke but I think your body has been through a lot and there are lots of new powerful drugs you need to get used to, These will take their toll on you and the way you are feeling.
It is very hard but hang on in there, things will no doubt improve over time (I keep getting told that and have to believe it! and TBH, things are better now 3 months in than they were 2 months in), so there is hope
HOWEVER if in any doubt about anything, don't hesitate to seek professional advise (111 or 999 or just a chat with a Doctor)
Hope this helps.

Hi there I’m Kirsty I have just undergone a cardio version 2 months ago and I’m feeling the same lots of anxiety and worry, every twinge in the chest I panic awful time to with the covid just can’t seem to get the appointments at hospitals which is more stress give me a shout if you’d like a chat? 🙂
That's kind kirsty. I am a retired health care assistant and I am wondering what happened to the days when I did the one stop cardiology clinics. After any proceedure you would be sent appointment in out patients for echo, ecg,BP,urine analysis ,wgt and a consultation with one off the 3 cardiologists doing clinic. Therefor hopefully went away reassured.I know we are living in the middle of covid but surely they could at least do a vidio call..Anxious patient's surely take up more time and resources.
Speak to your GP again (whichever one) as the drugs don't agree with everyone and they need changing!
My heart failure was unexpectedly diagnosed when I felt fine... within weeks of going on the drugs I was seriously ill. Many changes later I chose to stop and got back to my old self.
If my heart plays up I take calming drugs as its my anxiety causing my problems (Covid panic was fun ).
You know your body best... take care.
Thankyou
