Hi tere,

I'm feeling always goggly m sleepy 3 days into my X 5 CABAG bypass.

Anyone feeling the same? No strength to cough out loud.managed to walk 100m this morning non stop

Stopped all pain killers. Lest it makes me sleepy again. On chlorine n panadol. First day was morphine. And also feeling slight breathless

Cheers

Not sure of your meaning goggly? What hospital are you in ? Stopping the pain meds so soon is remarkable and walking 100 meters. You said in your earlier posts your operation was on the 3rd. I would have thought you would still have the neck cannula for meds. As for coughing loud the cardio nurses will encourage you to do this to clear the fluid and mucus from your lungs but not too loudly as you will have a lot of pain. This takes time.

Hi St03

3 days after open heart surgery, you should be still in hospital, and still have your drains, just seen gilreid1 as posted and agree with what he says, make sure you are doing your exercises I called them huffing and puffing it helps your lungs clear after they were collapsed in the operation, walking 100 meters is amazing, day 3 I was in HDU.

It’s really baby steps and time to get your stamina back.

I wish you well for your continued recovery.

Stay safe Pauline

Take it easy, give your body time to reconnect, rebuild your breastbone and get all your bits and pieces working in harmony. Time is required. If you won't take it easy your body will switch you off for a while it gets on with doing all the healing and fixing. It takes at least 6 weeks for your breast bone to knit itself together, so nice and easy does it.
