Feeling sleepy off the Dapa and always brain fog and spaced out from the entresto. Finding it difficult to see the benefits at times when feeling like this. Walking down the street feeling like the ground is moving or on a wave. Is there a good long term outlook for heart failure and these meds? Anyone been on them long term?

Dapagliflozin, entresto. Has anyone been on these long term and actually felt improvements from these meds?
hi. I’ve been on them both about 9 months and my EF went back to just about normal (53%) according to a perfusion scan. It’ll be interesting to see what replies you get for people who have been on it for years. Really hoping that it’s positive feedback.
Hi I went on dapa in October, I didn’t feel any difference. I urinated a lot more, loss weight and my EF went up from 15% to 23%. Im quite happy. I take a lot of meds, a cocktail of 7 for heart failure and Atrial fibrillation, all get rid of fluid from my body, but when I started taking dapa the fluid left my body at a different level. I’ve been on
Entresto for 51/2 years now, at first they put me on 2 twice a day but I couldn’t tolerate it. I kept feeling faint/dizzy so they put me on 1 twice a day. Entresto actually got my heart working again. I was dying, my heart wasn’t pumping that pulse in my neck was fading. I had an echo and they was so shocked straight away they put me on Entresto, it was my only option.
A month later when I saw the cardiologist who I saw a month ago, he was surprised to see me and how I had improved, he said when he last saw me, he didn’t think I would make it,
I have been on the highest dose of Entresto for a year now. It wasn’t easy to get there…I am forever mortified after throwing up and then fainting in the middle of a busy restaurant on a hot day. A recent MRI has seen my EF improve from 30 to 50 even under stress. I feel good and last week, for example, I attended sewing and knitting circles in the evenings, spent 24 hours entertaining a friend with walks, visit to a stately home and paddling in the sea (I did all the driving) and then volunteering for a whole day at the local museum as a Victorian farm worker taking three groups of 26 children from the farmyard up to the fields to stone pick. I have rested and slept this weekend, which meant missing a rehearsal for a ballet show. What I am trying to say here though is…do try and stick with the horrid side effects because it can get better. A year ago I couldn’t even walk to my front gate and I had to use a walking stick.
Hi there, it sounds more likely to be entrestro than the Dapa, I have found Dapa to have amazing results but it did take up to 12 months. Maybe ask your doctor if you could try something else rather than entresrto. I was also very dizzy, never fainted but did feel very faint and my BP was crazy low, but when my cardiologist altered some of my meds I did feel much better. Some medicine night time switch helps he even altered the doses. But I always stayed on Dapa. I hope you start to see and feel improvement soon. But probably got to wait 12 months. Have you cut out alcohol and caffeine? As I cut out both straight away. Take care and fingers crossed you see results very soon. 💖
I could not tolerate Entresto. Made me feel sick and fatigued. Developed a bad cough. Was not worth the side effects. I stopped the med. Now on losartan and half dose of bisoprolol 2.5 mg. I rarely find a med that actually makes me feel better.
Hello Theone…….. Haven’t been on those 2 meds long either and would welcome knowing other’s experience. Have taken a number of different beta blockers since I was 23 years old for blood pressure. Then had normal blood thinner, statin, ACE inhibitor and beta blocker and By Pass surgery at 60 following heart attack. Now at 68 following cardiac arrest have a new consultant and changed medication regime. He has replaced ACE with Entresco, added Dapa, left me on low dose Beta blocker and changed my statin tab, to a new form of fortnightly injection. Struggling with very loose bowels and a bit of brain fog with Entresco. But really trying to cope with that as I know Entresco is reportedly good and brain fog maybe from cardiac arrest. No noticeable side effects from Dapa yet, which is a first for me. And injection is not giving me the muscle issues I was getting, but yet to find out if it has lowered my cholesterol better than tabs did. Hope things get better for you. I’d welcome you keeping us updated with your progress though.
Have been on entresto for sometime and have got to the highest dose. I do have very loose bowel movements which get me down but generally its OK. I found dapa really helped me feel better but I lost so much weight I came off it but would like to return and see it was dapa that caused the weight loss. I have to learn to pace myself as on good days I do too much and then have some days feeling really awful but I have fantastic support from heart failure nurses
Hello. I've been on dapa for a few months with no ill effects. In fact I think I've felt better on it - though difficult to be sure as other things going on -- and it removed my ankle swelling almost overnight. So like others I think it's the entresto, which I don't take, that's probably the problem for you.
Thats brilliat to have improved your ankle swelling immediatly. I found that with entresto in the early days when i had a real low ef %. Within a week i noticed my circulation improve, hands were warmer, things started looking up. Just recently having problems here and there.
I do 'feel' better on dapa, less anxiety majority of the time. Better sleep. But i do get episodes of being out of breath for no apparent reaason, odd days of being wiped out and occasional flutters of the heart beating out of syc. I guess a lot of it is just the heart problem itself.
Anyways great news for you. All the best
Hi. I just started Dapagliflozin 10mg a few weeks ago after dropping Ramipril then a substituted Losartan due to suspected links to Angiodema problems I had that started 18 months ago. I also can't tolerate beta blockers. Too soon to comment and the only effect I had was one instance of stinging dark coloured urine a week into the drug as detailed in the likely side effects. All OK since then and encouraging to see some positive replies from other users. I believe it is a fairly new drug (circa 2020) so useful to start some dialogue on its effects.
Hi. I’ve noticed brain fog on many of the posts. Just exactly what does mean and how does it make you feel? Thank you.
Hi there. Yes not long after taking the med. Ill try my best to describe, almost like a groggy feeling, a mental cloud crossing over. I feel slightly anxious and on edge. A little slower mentally.
I did read online that there maybe a slight link to this drug and Alzheimer's. Something to do with the drug being able to pass over the blood brain barrier. So it maybe something to do with this. I think the risk of this is real low. It does pass after a couple of hours until the next tablet on the evening. I do split these so to spread it out a little bit. Getting used to middle dose in a way.
Thank you for the explanation. I don’t think I’ve experienced this yet in that way. I begin to feel blah late in the afternoon. Probably has nothing to do with meds except that they may be wearing off.
