Up this morning,you'd think i was drunk,staggering to get up,light headed.Checked b/p,was ok.

Heart went from 25% to just over 40% from taking dapagliflozin.

But don't feel the benefits.

Still no energy and limited to what I can do..

Anyone the same?

similar tale, EF now 39%, up from 20/25%. Suspect Entresto may be contributing to low energy levels after dosage increased. Talking to my gp, had a ecg for starters.

Hi I’m started on Entresco 5 months ago and having the same tiredness and bowels not liking it either. Really don’t want to tell consultants this time as I know how expensive and gold standard it is. Really trying to adapt but not sure I’m gonna succeed.

Hi RHFaCOY

There’s the following side effects listed on the NHS on Dapaglifozin. Dizziness seems to be a side effect of the medication.

nhs.uk/medicines/dapagliflo...

I’m not sure how long you have been on the medication, but if it’s improved your EF as you mentioned, it seems to be doing its job.

Perhaps discuss an alternative as I know newer medicines are being added to the list to treat heart failure.

Let us know how you get on.

All the best.

Tos

Hello,

I get dizziness when I get up quickly, the way I found I helped this was by sitting upright counting to 10 and then getting up (when I remember 😀), and I found that this did help.

I spoke to my consultant about this and he said I was doing the right thing, and that was what he would have recommended.

Best wishes.

hi. I’ve been feeling very tired/lethargic since I was put on the maximum dose of entresto/Dapa/bisoprolol about 10 months ago. I also get light headed if I stand up too quickly. My EF has gone back into normal levels so I was prepared to tolerate it and I wasn’t sure if my symptoms were just due to heart failure. I feel completely wiped out most of the time although I’m frightened to stop using these meds incase my EF decreases again.

I feel the same..I'm also on antidepressants so I don't know if they make things worse.

Have you checked on a pharmacy med checker on the line whether your other medications are contraindicated with the Dapa , or that they can be used together but would cause more dizziness or drowsiness together. You may need to have space between taking the different medications to reduce the side effects , I know I have to take one set of medications at my "first" breakfast , and then another couple a few hours later at my " second breakfast" to stop them bashing heads and making the side effects worse. I know it makes me sound like a Hobbit not a Human!

If they contraindicate or their is a different antidepressant that could work as well for you but is better taken if you are on Dapa you could ask to taper off the one you are on and build up the new one via your Consultant or GP.

In the meantime , it is standard Self Care advice for people whom have dizziness or Vertigo as part of their illness or drug side effects to do as others have said.

Sit on the bedside and wait before standing up then stand and wait for a count of ten before walking off.

You can get even less dizziness and improve the Fatigue by using the approved Self Care technique for Dysautonomia and Orthostatic Intolerance by having a quite quick drink of water as you sit on the bed , or if you are going to get up after sitting for sometime before getting up , then while you pause you have another good drink of water before you move.

You drink again before changing positions in exercises and before and after sitting or lying down.

This can help reduce the swing in the rise and fall of either blood pressure or heart rate that comes from movement and it's effect on your autonomic nervous system which can be less efficient as part of a heart or lung condition or on certain medications.

It's also worth having blood tests done at two weeks and a month after starting a new drug to check your kidney function / electrolytes and full liver function and a full blood count and your Vitamin B12 just to make sure that a salt , iron or electrolyte imbalance is not adding to the side effects and to give you a baseline to work from.

Sometimes if our iron and salts were too low or too high just before an event or drug change the illness or new medication can tip the results a little and can be the cause of new symptoms of Fatigue , Dizziness , loss of coordination or Brain Fog.

If so , a simple change in diet and supplements and the daily recommended level of water intake taken at the right times can be all you need to do to make side effects easier or stop them altogether.

Take care , Bee

I take entresto and dapagaflozin as well. I got very dizzy, light headed and had blurred vision when on max dose of entresto. Couldn't function. Went back to half dose of entresto. Dapagaflozin didn't really affect me, except I lost a lot of weight and amazingly, had to up my calorie intake.

I get hypotension if I stand up fast but easily mitigated by bending forward momentarily then standing up.

Wow that’s a good improvement. It improved mine from 15% to 23%. I feel tired all the time too and breathless when moving. I felt like this before, dapa but this year the tiredness did improve a little, but a chest infection recently as put me right back. It’s probably one or most of the cocktail of drugs we’re taking.

I have suffered with bouts of dizzyness for man years. It's awful. The only thing that I have found is that it does eventually go away

Even using Dapaglaflozin the % of improvement to heart,I still don't feel much better..Still get short breathe, even doing the simplest of tasks Is it just in my mind?

Suffer from a lot of chest infections.

Yes iv been on entresto since 2020 and always had problems with sides up until the last couple months they have vanished! Almost as if they switched the drug to a sugar tablet. Honestly dont know how. I used to get brain fog, fatigue. I have been on dapa since start of the year. I do 'feel' better in many ways from it but also have episodes of aniexity and heart episodes occasionally. Good luck.
