Don’t give up - you will win in the long run! I think your weight loss is great and it’s not easy to stop smoking.

Keep going it takes a lot of time for the body to adjust!

Do you have any chronic conditions, or a family history of heart conditions that have you motivated to make these changes?

There are so many reasons why switching to a more healthy lifestyle plan might be causing you to not feel your best - what does your doctor say about your state of health?

Please don't give up. See your GP or consultant, the answer could be something so simple!

Hey Girl . Calm Down A Little. I UNDERSTAND What You're Talking About. I Have Been On The "Super Healthy Diet" For A Little Over A Year Now. I Just Thought The Other Day, " It's Been Over A Year Of SUPER Healthy Eating. Do I Really Feel & Look Better Now ?" My Honest Answer To Myself ? Was A Disappointing "NO" !* Well, All I Really Noticed Is Losing A Few Pounds & That Came To A Stand Still.

I Am A Walking Veggie Garden Full Of High Fiber & Should Be A Walking Post Card Of "Better Health". NOT !* Not When It Comes To DIET !* Instead I Am A Walking Air Bubble Of GAS & Pain !* Still Need BP Meds & Was Told I Had A 70% Blockage In The Main Artery Leading To My Left Kidney & May Need A Stent. Ya Think ? But ! As Usual ? No Doctor Has Done Anything About It. [ they just pass you around ]

Don't Get Me Wrong. I Am Glad I'm Eating Healthier. BUT ? Where's All These Promised Benefits ?* Shouldn't I Feel GREAT ?*

ALL These Cardio Doctors LIE & ARE HYPOCRITES When It Comes To Diets !*

My Wife Is Over Cleaning Maintenance At A Hospital. The Cath & Cardio Departments Is Her Primary Responsibility. She Said , "Everything These Doctors & Nurses Tell You To "Stay Away From" ? "THEY" Indulge In, In Their Break Areas & Lounges !* They Have The Most UNHEALTHY DIETS Catered In EVERYDAY And Splurge Themselves !* She Cleans It Up Daily & Sees It With Her Own Eyes !* You Have Cardio Docs Come Into Break Room After Doing Triple Bypasses Stuffing Their Faces [ nurses too ] With Loaded Pizzas, Fried Chicken, Pastas, & Cakes , Pies, & Loads Of High Fat Donuts ECT.. !* She Said, " You Would Be SHOCKED". [ and you doctors an nurses here need to stop your hypocrisy ! ]....

I Personally Will Stay As Healthy As Possible In My Diet. I Focus On Finishing No Matter What, My Veggies First, But I Will Enjoy Other Foods That May "Stray A Little" From My Mainstay Healthy Diet. If I Am In A Situation Of Consuming A Higher Fat Meal ? I ALWAYS Drink "Lemon Water" [ at least one whole lemon in it ] And It DOES Thin & Cut The Fat You Just Ingested & Makes It Easier To Pass Through The Body Instead Of Getting Stuck In There. A Teaspoon Of Vinegar In It Can Help Even More.

But I KNOW Your Frustration...... Stay In Touch Girl.

I figured as much about the doctors etc. I think they know there's only a certain amount that you can do to improve your health so they just indulge life is short. I do know that I will feel better in the long run knowing at least I tried my best!!! Your words are always an encouragement to me thank you!!!

You are a tremendous inspiration to me and you keep up that good work!!

I do feel it will pay off!! :-)

I just wanted to add I don't know if its intentional..but it seems that when you replyed to me..you threw in a bit of humor whether this was intentional or not I don't know but that comment about the gas from the veggies I found hilarious thank you for making me laugh!! 😁

I think you may also find that healthy food is scarce in hospitals and that whilst preparing food to take to work sounds good-it can be hard to organise.

Thank you everyone for your support!

Currently the only medication I am on is levothyroxine 25 mg for hypothyroidism and red yeast rice for high cholesterol. Vitamin D as I am D deficient. Magnesium glycinate that's pretty much it. I don't expect overnight changes and I don't know that they will ever affect my body by diet and exercise. I know my cholesterol seems to be hereditary. Changes were prompted just because I want to be healthier and happier.

Anyone who follows me knows.. I am prone to anxiety and heart palpitations eptopics.. just trying to do what I can to be healthier.

Your dose of Levo is far to low, normally you would be started on 50mcg then increased every 6-8 weeks so you aren't even on a starter dose, you do need an increase.

I need a different doctor but I can't afford one.

in reply to

The only checks my T3 and T4 and because it runs 1.9 to 2.8 he will not up the dosage. The reason they put me on 25 mg is because my level was 4.4 . He said that wasn't too high but agreed to a small low dose of Levo.

Having a healthy lifestyle/diet etc isn't necessarily about short term gains. It's the long term benefits that matter so much.

20 years ago my husbands health was so bad he wasnt expected to survive for very long. He followed the nhs/bhf guidelines for diet, exercise etc this year he'll be celebrating his 65th birthday.

Never give up, always think positive

Im so happy he is doing well!! Thank you for sharing!! 🌷

Hi

Forgive me for saying so but other than 'feeling depressed' you did not say what it is that is that makes you think your health is getting worse. I suspect that the 'feeling depressed' is the key? If you could make some progress with that I suspect you might consider your health in a different light - what do you think?

I think it is very easy for all of us on here to "over think" or focus almost exclusively on our health.

Well I think what you’re doing & achieving is amazing!!!

Losing 9 lbs & giving up smoking is incredible & shows you’re motivated, clever & effective. I’m in admiration, I can’t shift my post-surgery pounds & struggle to give up an unhealthy chocolate habit.

A few questions, although I wouldn’t be as worried as you seem to be.....

1) Peri-menopause. No need to answer publicly, Q is for yourself - what age are you? As I neared menopause, in my forties, my health (physical & mental) changed - slowly, but a lot as it progressed. Stress anxiety & depression were regulars. Felt hopeless. Waistline uncontrollable. Heart symptoms triggered. And more.

2) spouse has high cholesterol, the plant sterol things helped a lot. Benecol spread, yoghurt, drinks. Also soy products eg tofu, and oatmeal (not the Readybreak variety).

3) I have same ratio as you in previous post 3.3 and my doc wasn’t too concerned (or maybe mine is lax!)

4) the more I worry about my health, the more my heart reacts. Incl my blood pressure & ectopics. My cardio nurse told me that a bereavement was probably worsening my flutters, I wasn’t initially convinced but I now see a very strong correlation between feeling upset & heart symptoms. Doesn’t help stop them (!) but does help me worry way less about them.

5) BP. The walking you are doing would suggest a lower BP is likely, I agree with possibility of an erroneous high? I took 2 BP readings, one after the other, on GP surgery machine. First, with normal “mood”, (bit stressy & sad) was 25 higher, than second, where I took a minute to take a deep breath & reflect that it is overall good to be alive. So readings can really vary. Try a consistent position & breathing rate, with multiple readings at diff times?

I’m in admiration. You seem to be doing the right things to really benefit, maybe it takes a while to see the results - although not sure which results you’re specifically worried about? Happy to message privately if helpful. Take heart, sometimes it’s other uncontrollable stuff that makes us feel low, and you’ll get through it.

Not what you're looking for?
