Is it OK to eat lambs liver - I had an elective triple bypass

The title says it all really, but I read confusing advice as to whether it is safe to eat lambs liver. It is high in cholesterol but not high in saturated fat. I understand it is more important to avoid foods high in saturated fat than it is to avoid dietary cholesterol in foods.

I have recently rediscovered lambs liver having mostly eaten it growing up.

Eat whatever you want. Just be aware of how often and how much you consume. Enjoy!

Liver is extremely high in nutrients and very good for you , I personally prefer chicken liver as it's not as strong, you can pick it up in the frozen section in sainsbury's for 75p . Also beef heart is nice, quickly pan fried , just tastes like steak to me , I have only seen this in morrisons though .Enjoy

Go for it. Thinly sliced, pan fried with onion gravy to serve. Yum. The best of the butcher's livers on offer.

Thanks folks. I've had lambs liver (I'm supposing it was lambs anyway) with bacon and onions all fried on a cafe griddle a few (infrequent) times last year. This year they had liver and bacon casserolled. It was lovely, just like Mum used to do for the family growing up. Yes I guess moderation is the key, particularly with the bacon element.

People eat worse stuff then liver, just keep it at a sensible level and you'll be fine. What's the point of living if you're living in black and white. Enjoy it but enjoy things in moderation.

I'm having a good steak and fries tonight, followed by a nice 10% bourbon barrel aged stout to sip on .

remember to ask the lamb first!😉

seriously though, we are now past the days when we were told that a food is bad or unhealthy - as others have said, it's about balance: how much, how often and what else you eat

so lamb's liver with a cream sauce, chips and no green veg, washed down with a sweet ice-cream-thickened milkshake, and a deepfried chocolate bar (you know the sort) for pudding, every day ...... probaby not a balanced and health inducing diet!

but liver with lots of fresh or frozen veg and some potato or other form of starch, as part of a mixed and varied diet, occasionally would not be damaging unless you had a specific intolerance, allergy or other diet limiting condition
