Only a couple of things .. I am learning more on this forum . I dont cook with salt or put salt on anything anyway ... he said I need salt, this confused me . i eat very little meat.
Bp is in the 150 range am mainly a vegetarian ,
I am in the UK and good as the NHS is you cant demand anything .
i am verging on 3b CKD which is the problem.
1 need to lose some weight which I am trying to do.
It is annoying that you don’t get advice just twice a year checks.
I know someone with only one kidney and a problem with the other. Losartan is the only BP med that suits her and me. In her case it has to be from a certain maker as different brands contain different filling compounds.
There is a procedure called renal denervation that has been around for several years where radio waves are used on the kidneys and it can reduce BP quite a bit. Another is a paper clip-size device called a Rox coupler (a reversible procedure ) that is inserted into an artery in the groin. It diverts blood to a nearby vein, relieving the strain on the artery and reducing the heart's workload. The Lancet finds the device successfully works to stabilize blood pressure in patients.
I always demand of the NHS otherwise I would be ignored. As one GP I had said 'Patient Power' they don't like that. I tried to get on the renal denervation trial at Imperial College but my BP was not consistently high enough. The tests did show that I had aortic stenosis with my valve 76% closed so I got a valve replacement out of it before it sneaked up and was found too late.
Bp is in 150 range and here ( uk) they don’t refer you until the next stage of CKD I also wasn’t told for 9 years that I had CKD which was very annoying as I Could have helped myself with diet etc. after finding out things on here.
salt is an electrolyte - your body needs some to function efficiently, in the same way that your brain runs on glucose - but not too much in both cases. Try and get to see a BANT registered nutritionist to look at your diet. Losing weight is usually made easier if you can get a good exercise pattern going, regular walking for example, perhaps a mile day to start with?
