Hi all wee question I'm thinking about getting away in late June for holiday abroad possibly the canaries when I'll be over 3 months post OHS. Wondering where I would stand with the sun and my scaring??? 🤔

Thats one well earned holiday. I found information on an NHS site: hey.nhs.uk/patient-leaflet/...

If you also Google kelo-cote UK they have sunscreens for scars but they seem quite expensive. Maybe a good 30+ factor of well known brands would be as good. Sorry you won't have the all over tan though but why worry about that.

Cheers yeah keeping my scar protected is far more important than an all over tan and I never thought I'd ever be saying that 😁

Hi, I went on holiday last September which was 5 months after my Bypass op & was advised to use factor 50 on my scar. I did & had no problems.

Thanks Jean from the advice looks like I'm slapping on the factor 50 then! Don't think I've ever had to use that high a sun cream before but needs must 🙂

No worry, Markyboy, it was one of my neighbours who had a bypass a few years ago who advised me from her own experience. I only used factor 50 on my scars not anywhere else.

Yes like the others have said use a really high factor and really try to keep it covered as much as possible and out of the sun for the first 12 months

That was the info I was given

Have a great holiday x
