Check ups after surgery

Hi I had an aortic valve & root replacement 2 1/2 years ago. Should I be having any check ups following on from that?

Hi, my understanding is that you have annual checks with your Cardiologist. The BHF nurse helpline will be able to clarify and provide any NICE guidelines.

After discharge eight weeks post OHS I did rehab at the local hospital and had a follow up (with the cardiologist who had referred me) six months later. He said he would review me annually. I had a quadruple (smart motorway :) ) bypass.

I had my aortic valve replaced in 2012 when I was 76. Since then I have an annual echocardiogram with a follow up cardiology appointment.

I would contact your cardiology department because I would expect them to do yearly check ups. I’ve had check ups yearly since I was diagnosed with a heart murmur at 16, and these continued after my AVR ops.
