Carpel tunnel surgery date

I now have a date for my carpel tunnel surgery and have stopped my DMARDS and Etanercept injections. Goodness me, I can already feel the effects!

For most this is a simple procedure but when you have to endure the effects of PsA, it becomes a whole more complicated.

When asked how long I will be off work (i'm a part time Teaching Assistant), it isn't as clear cut. Not only do I need to recover from the surgery which for anyone without inflammatory arthritis, should be quite straightforward, two weeks after, I need to start taking my meds again to be able to function properly!

It will be an interesting time and I will keep you updated on my progress.

Hope this post finds you all well!

Hi Bob. I had my operation on the 12th of Feb and I am doing well. The scar is healing but is very tight and uncomfortable. My hand is still painful at times but is getting there.

The operation has helped as I have got my grip back and not dropped anything yet!

Not sure if I would have the op on my other hand due to the scar pain.

Hope this finds you well!

Hi Tina3, I would not put off your second opp as in our present climate it can keep being put back for ever & your problems can get worse, I had both mine done at once as I didnt want this messing about with appointments, it was over & done with plus the longer the band is restricted the more chance of longer term Nerve damage .
