That losing a neighbour would affect me in the way it has.
It wasn't as though we were very close but I knew her well, I think it must have been the shock and the fact that I started thinking about my own recent health scares. which led me to family ages and, well you know...

yes I’ve been thinking of family ages as well. I have a few cousins in Scotland who are all older than me. My mum worked so us children would be sent up to Scotland where my aunt had a farm, where we’d stay in the school holidays. We were allowed to run loose, we had a great time. Much more freedom up there than we were allowed in London. Anyway I got to thinking about them & the fact that they’re getting older so Ive made arrangements to go up there in June.
A few of my friends have been diagnosed with serious illness just recently & it makes you think.
A neighbour of mine died just two years ago now. We only got talking in lockdown when she was caring for her sick husband. I’d do some shopping for them & stop & chat on the doorstep. Her husband died & then just a few months later she died both were in their early sixties. That hit me hard & as you said I hardly knew them.
Got to go for it whilst we can. Look after yourself x
One valuable lesson I have learned through getting evicted is that nothing in life is guaranteed to anyone!
Yesterday I enjoyed a day out in Bristol with my friends and we went to an all you can eat Brazilian place for a change and had a catch up.
Initially I was frightened about doing a full day out but talked myself round and asked myself what's the worst that can happen and decided to bite the bullet and go anyway and I'm glad I did!
I'm sorry Chloe, that is sad.I lost a friend last week, she was about 15years younger than me,it was very sudden. It has shocked me and I keep thinking about ages and not wasting time.
I know. It’s surprising how these shocks affect us, and it certainly makes us think about our futures. Now I’m thinking ‘have I wasted too much time’? I need to change this negativity asap!
Hi Chloe sorry to hear that it`s had an effect on you. I had this old guy in my street all my life he moved to another lower down home due to health reasons and every day I passed his house I`d wave in even if I couldn`t see him. a couple of Sundays ago I waved in and less than an hour later my sister text me to say he`d passed away the day before. his funeral was midweek I`d have went but I had an important doctors appointment so couldn`t go not many elder people left that are originals from my younger days that`s kind of sad.
my neighbourhood is like a little village, we all know each other and families that visit each of us, when one passes it really is like losing one of your own. You see your neighbours more than distant relatives and they are your extended family. Do you have a neighbourhood WhatsApp group or support of other neighbours with your loss, I’m sure others are feeling the same loss in the neighbourhood and want help and support too. I hope you find some comfort but don’t forget we’re all here for you. Take care 🦊x
