Hi Tonya, welcome to the forum. So sorry to hear of your loss, losing your Dad is momentous, it creates a shift in the very ground under our feet. You will miss him, that doesn't change with time, it only hurts less as time passes.
It's interesting that you say you're the only only dealing with this loss. Don't forget that for some it really doesn't hit for quite some time, especially if they're dealing with legalities etc, it can be years even for some. I remember an ex for whom the loss of his Dad seemed to roll off his back at the time but he fell apart about a year later. For others they may not show any obvious signs of grief but again, that doesn't always mean they don't feel it. It's such a different journey for everyone. It's important not to judge your own, or anyone else's by any measurement or timescale. 💖
Hi ladybug-2356
I'm so sorry for your loss, Dad's are so important, that we'll always have a special place in our hearts for them.
You may think you are the only one in the family grieving, but maybe the others are just keeping their pain to themselves, we all grieve in different ways and we all have different relationships with our lost loved one. Your Mum is grieving a husband, so she had a different relationship with him than you and your siblings who are grieving a Dad, and we all handle it very differently too.
It's still early days for you and while it will take time, you will find that one day, you can carry his memory in your heart and mind, without too much upset for you and you'll look back with fond memories <3
Have you tried making a memory box? You can fill it with things that are special to you and have a connection between you and your Dad, like photos, birthday cards, little trinkets he may have bought, anything that reminds you of your Dad.
Please do chat here whenever you wish, it helps talking with others.
Sending love
Chloe <3
