Hi there, I am have just received my second dose of Rituximab after having a Spinal stroke (T2-4). My specialist said the stroke was caused by a flare in my vasculitis, therefore the reason to treat with Rituximab.

My question is to patients that have been treated with this medication please? How long until it is safe for you to start living a normal life? The Prof treating me, has suggested that I isolate. This is just affecting my mental health so much after Covid, however I do understand my B cells will be null & void, right about now. Any advice is welcome please? Here is being hopeful. 😃

Hi Zuzu, I don’t have any experience with Rituximab, but I just wanted to send you my wishes for health and i hope you can come back to your normal life soon. While you cannot and have to stay at home, please try to remember ( I know that is super hard) that this will pass! If you allow me, try to watch some uplifting Netflix if you like, and avoid at all costs anything that is sad or bring you down. It makes a huge difference on my mental health. I watch those funny video of cats and dogs… good music… and hope! I am here if you want to talk more. Sorry if I was inappropriate. Take care!

Hello, I had Rituximab nearly three months ago to keep me on remission for my Kidney disease. I understand what you are going through as everyone says the same and it brings fears. But please don’t be afraid as it is a good treatment and you can leave a normal life just being careful. I decided just to leave a normal life being very careful when going out like using alcohol gel etc…not speaking to close to other people but not going over the top. If I think I will get a cold I use the first defence spray for 2 days that seems to help a lot. Also, the doctor gave antibiotics which we have to take for the first 6 moths. I have a 7 years old which goes to school and plenty extra activities which I take during the week. My husband works full time, he sees lots of people and travels a lot. I go to church 3 times a week. Please, look after yourself but don’t allowed to go over the top. You make your immunity stronger if you don’t stress yourself putting pressure on you. You just have to be careful and you will see how everything will be ok for you. I wish all the best to you! Be strong and think positive.
