Hi. I have elevated hemoglobin and hematocrit levels for at least the last few months, with consistently rising levels the last few years. I recently saw a hematologist who checked for polycythemia Vera and sent me for kidney and liver ultrasound, all thankfully negative. I do take daily prednisone. I am wondering if anyone else has experienced elevated hemoglobin and hematocrit, and if there is a relationship to Behçet’s? I am aware it could be caused by the steroids, but it seems the dr is overly concerned with it stemming from another cause. Thanks for any input......

I have high hemoglobin and hematocrit and also high platelets. What was your hemoglobin and hematocrit levels if you don’t mind me asking. My hematologist is doing more test now and I’m pretty worried. My red and white blood count levels are also elevated
I have read that steroids can raise the levels. So seems that could be the factor since you take daily prednisone
That’s interesting as my mother has had high results there - she has been diagnosed with vasculitis (IGA), but is also being tested for APS. Am still trying to work out the connections as I have Behcets.
