I thought it might be useful for some to see how my joints swell (ankles shown here) and the marks I get on my legs etc when the behcet’s is active. Which is all the time at the moment. The marks on my legs that can be mistaken as bruising are Erythema Nodosum. Obviously I get cystic spots and mouth ulcers too. As well as internal problems.

I get swelling around my knees, on my toes and fingers most of the time, even when I'm not flaring!

Yes I do too, my hips and shoulders too. My wrists as well. They swell if I use them.

I have just similar ankle swelling on both of my feet, do both of yours swell? I also get swelling and painful tightness at tge front right of shin bone just up from the ankle bone, do you get this too? I also have a diagnosis of ehlers danlos so never sure if my ankle involvement is that or Behcet's...

I am always pleased to see photographs of Behcet's people's symptoms simply because I feel it is very helpful for all of us. I do think this site or tge Behcet's site should allow Behcet's sufferers to upload photos of our various issues it is so helpful to know what is typical and what's not as it is all often new symptoms turn up and then you have no consultant to ask and nothing to refer to, I realise that this would not be conclusive of each person's condition but it would be helpful, I often see photographs of oral and genital ulcers but not much else.

I also occasionally get erythema nodosum on my legs. I have recently have developed like a patch thats looks like on my left front thigh but it itches too so unsure if the same, do any of your patches itch? Similar thing on my left elbow also has itchy patches but with added skin issues that resembles psoriasis...

Hi Gillian,

Yes I get pain in all the joints, they all swell including I just showed photos off ankles. I also no longer have wrists and my fingers swell up. I get pain all down my legs and arms and in my hips. I can’t speak on the phone as holding it for anything more than 2 minutes is painful. I can’t carry anything for more than a minute either. I’m physically strong enough to lift things just it’s too painful to hold on to them. I lift myself up with my fists clenched and push up. The ER is warm to touch and can be itchy. I have lots of other pics too of the visible issues I gave. My nails also pit when I flare quite dramatically.

I also do. Lately each month a limb is injured, I deal with this 3 weeks out of a month (the limb swollen and pain.

Mine swell when I move the joints too. It’s awful. Like wade bf through treacle permanently. I always suffer with my joints. Have push myself up to get off sofa.

A picture is worth a thousand words! I can empathise with you. Does the erythema nodosum break out in an ulcer (usually in the centre)?

Yes they do or just go hard and yellow

I have had that or very similar. Often it is a blood vessel that has become blocked with granuloma. It took a long time to get diagnosed properly.

That’s helpful to know, mine scar over too. Into keloid scares.

Fortunately keloid scars are something I haven’t had to deal with. As a rule they heal well although it takes months. And some are very painful, especially on the fingers!
