Vein burning from blood draw

I had a blood draw a month ago. Two weeks after the blood draw my veins in my arm began to feel like they were burning and there was burning at the venipunctire site. I did have some spots of blood appear under my skin on my inner elbow. I did not have any swelling. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

Sounds quite possible the may of hit a nerve you will need to rest the arm if possible to allow it to heal.

I now ask for a fine needle every time I have my blood tests, was weekly for the last 9 months, just gone to 3 and 4 weekly. I do not get the bruising I did before or the bleeding afterwards.

Thank you for your reply. The needle was larger than what they have used to draw blood in the past. I wondered why the needle was so large. There was no pain during the draw and no bleeding afterward. I did get some splotches of blood underneath my skin later but it’s all gone now. Thank you again for replying and best of health to you!
